@ timgaul:

Have you looked at your disc?
I dunno, but maybe the lens might be a bit dirty.

Speculation.

You really did miss what I did there then :( Every electrical device has a life expectency, by saying "RROD affects the 360, its only a matter of time" holds no form of an argument. The only way to fix an LCD screen that has dead pixels is to replace it, as with any electrical device (eg Xbox 360).

Common get real! The RROD failures is bad design, nothing to do with normal expected end of life periods. You guys are a good laugh. We are not allowed to refer or discuss RROD but you have your fun with a few PS3 failures like the lens issue which by comparison are not even a fraction of a percentage of the RROD issue. Refer to all Timgauls posts.

The fact of the matter is as soon as you see reference to RROD and now even KZ2 you all go in shock and fight for dear life. Why I really cannot understand.

They should change the rules of the MyBB membership to only include Xbox owners as some Xbots just hate anything PS3 even the simplest posts about the PS3 are trolled by Timgaul and then the pack arrives to support his idiocracy.

Well, I'll try be democratic..

I really do think that all Xbox360 owner, deep deep down, do have a respect for the PS3 (not an intense dislike).
The reason they bought the 360 was, for them, a financial/social decision (their friends may have one - borrow games etc.).

The problem is this.

Lets say you just bought a Porsche 911 Turbo. Nice car.

Then some idiot drives next to you in his highly modified Nissan GT-R, and says his car is cheaper and faster.
Now you just spent alot of money on your premium German marquee, and naturally you feel a bit 'die moer in' on what was just said.

So you would get defensive (perhaps), and say you spent that money on a car that IS pretty good. Reliable, Man. is financially stable etc.
The idiot would reply that his car is faster around the Nurburgring than a Porsche GT.

And so handbags start to fly.

That is how fanboi bashing occurs. In the case above, both cars are very, very good. But they were purchased for various (personal) reasons.
The drivers prefer their cars over the other. But there is no intrinsic HATE of the other.

People are just easily offended, and become pretty defensive.

I love a PS3, I don't hate an Xbox - I just prefer the PS3 (for my own personal reasons).
If I could also own an Xbox (monetary restrictions aside), I would most definitely have one.

My 2c.

Nah, it is a genuine software bug - I've been writing all my discs to the harddrive, so the lens isn't the issue. These usually occur toward the end of any game where the testing is less frequent, I would imagine.

Very deep down! :D

Hey, if I had 8k just lying around I might get a PS3, but for now other things are a priority.

Can the Xbox do that?

Awesome.

So what do you do with the original disc?

(Not hinting - believe me)

Hehe, yeah, it speeds up load times and any disc related issues. But you need the original game in the drive to let you play from the HDD (security check, I assume).

So is it like installing onto the drive then?

Could it maybe be that while installing the game, that due to a lens issue, the caching is interrupted and therefore the installation is somehow affected?

Shooting in the breeze..

As usual stretching it again? 5K will do just fine then you have the porche model. :D

Please post the pricing here. How would 5k get me a console, plus another controller for my mates, and some games?

I already have an XBox 360, spare controller and plenty games. As such no additional expense will be incurred.

Off topic again.

New update works fine with me as well.

It's pure coincidence, media hype discrediting the Xbox 360 each turn that they get.

If your console is going to die (RROD, etc) then an update won't have much bearing on it.

Getting tired of these stories BTW :D

Failures due to firmware updates are always pretty much a bag of hot air..

You updated your Xbox - no problems encountered.
I updated my PS3 - no problems encountered.

Sensationalism...
