Hardly a duplicate thread. The thread you're linking to starts off talking about the sales of the Xbox and then disintegrates into another fanboi battle. Let's keep the discussion about the latest dashboard update here.
This concerns me, I did the update and since then GRiD has crashed on me twice, if my Xbox does RROD again will I be able to swap it out under special circumstances? It was fine before the update.
Nope, no problem here. Come to think of it I haven't heard a single issue from any XBox 360 owners on this forum about the dashboard update.
Sure but there is references on forums to real cases and as stated 28 million prospective Xbox360 RROD failures remains out there.

Obviously not...judging by Timgauls post. I haven't had a problem either. Sorry to shoot you down again, but not all 28mil 360 owners are on Xbox Live (only way to get this update at the moment). Take into account the 360 isn't the only device thats had this problem ( http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=2535074&postcount=2 )
Fudzy, sorry mate you comment is hardly conclusive. I've had several games crash on me after playing them for weeks on end for no particular reason.
+1, just googling 360 GRiD crashing brings up numerous issues with the discs itself. M$ have released fixes, patches for these problems.
It's fully patched, it could be coincidence but before the update it never crashed and subsequently it's crashed twice. Perhaps it's the weather...
Excuse me? For the second time you've posted in an Xbox 360 directed thread, pointing out and constantly riding faults/shortcomings. Now you're saying its not an Xbox issue?Xbox is not the issue.
Oh geez, using that logic, the same applies to the PS3 lensThe RROD problems are inherent to ALL Xbox 360's in general, it's not a question of only the update, its a question of when!
If you'd known anything about RROD other than its a sign of hardware failure, you'd understand how far the 360 architecture has come since launch dealing with the RROD problem. As far as I can see nothing are confirmed that the Update is in fact the actual cause in these particular cases. Maybe RROD is just becoming more frequent as expected and by coincidence it happned when these guys upgraded.
For your sake, I hope so.![]()

Oh geez, using that logic, the same applies to the PS3 lensAnother example: LCD screens will die of dead pixels, its a question of when! See what I did there?

To try and ease the pain by comparing it with LCD dead pixels issues just do not make any sense at all.
Save yourself the worry and put it on ignore. It cannot be reasoned with. You really did miss what I did there thenEvery electrical device has a life expectency, by saying "RROD affects the 360, its only a matter of time" holds no form of an argument. The only way to fix an LCD screen that has dead pixels is to replace it, as with any electrical device (eg Xbox 360).
