Xbox 360 update may be killing consoles

Hardly a duplicate thread. The thread you're linking to starts off talking about the sales of the Xbox and then disintegrates into another fanboi battle. Let's keep the discussion about the latest dashboard update here.

This concerns me, I did the update and since then GRiD has crashed on me twice, if my Xbox does RROD again will I be able to swap it out under special circumstances? It was fine before the update.

Sorry fixed. I had the wrong link. That one also degenerated due to certain individuals as you can see.

Wonder what are M$ going to do. There are 28 million prospective failures at hand. They will have to start issuing Jaspers or at least fix the problem as many reported the replacement consoles also failing. Some guys are already on console no4 up to 7. A "TOTAL RECALL" should be in order.LOL

Nope, no problem here. Come to think of it I haven't heard a single issue from any XBox 360 owners on this forum about the dashboard update.

Sure but there is references on forums to real cases and as stated 28 million prospective Xbox360 RROD failures remains out there.

Obviously not...judging by Timgauls post. I haven't had a problem either. Sorry to shoot you down again, but not all 28mil 360 owners are on Xbox Live (only way to get this update at the moment). Take into account the 360 isn't the only device thats had this problem ( http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=2535074&postcount=2 )

Fudzy, sorry mate you comment is hardly conclusive. I've had several games crash on me after playing them for weeks on end for no particular reason. This was all BEFORE the update. So you'll have to excuse me if I feel it seems to be a bit coincidental.

I do hope I'm right and it all works out fine without needing to swap consoles, though. Just keep us posted if anything else happens.

Thanks.

Xbox Live is not the issue here. The RROD problems are inherent to ALL Xbox360's in generall, it's not a question of only the update, its a question of when! As far as I can see nothing are confirmed that the Update is in fact the actual cause in these particular cases. Maybe RROD is just becoming more frequent as expected and by coincidence it happned when these guys upgraded.

The PS3 issue is different. My update and as reported on MyBB, other PS3 owners updates works fine. The few updates that failed was because of incomplete updating due to networking problems. Not because of hardware failures due to bad design and substandard components as inherently designed into the Xbox360.

+1, just googling 360 GRiD crashing brings up numerous issues with the discs itself. M$ have released fixes, patches for these problems.

It's fully patched, it could be coincidence but before the update it never crashed and subsequently it's crashed twice. Perhaps it's the weather...

Excuse me? For the second time you've posted in an Xbox 360 directed thread, pointing out and constantly riding faults/shortcomings. Now you're saying its not an Xbox issue?

Oh geez, using that logic, the same applies to the PS3 lens  Another example: LCD screens will die of dead pixels, its a question of when! See what I did there?

If you'd known anything about RROD other than its a sign of hardware failure, you'd understand how far the 360 architecture has come since launch dealing with the RROD problem.

Yet it remains a serious problem for M$ and the consumers and it's getting worse by the day. Yes, the Jasper is a possible solution if you buy a new console. Yet there are up to 28million Xboxes out there bound to fail at some time. Hopefully before the warranties expire.

Small consolation that M$ worked on the design and as yet have not resolved it for the many consumers out there still stuck with a potential problem at hand.

To try and ease the pain by comparing it with LCD dead pixels issues just do not make any sense at all.

You really did miss what I did there then :( Every electrical device has a life expectency, by saying "RROD affects the 360, its only a matter of time" holds no form of an argument. The only way to fix an LCD screen that has dead pixels is to replace it, as with any electrical device (eg Xbox 360).

Save yourself the worry and put it on ignore. It cannot be reasoned with.
