Failures due to firmware updates are always pretty much a bag of hot air..

You updated your Xbox - no problems encountered.
I updated my PS3 - no problems encountered.

Sensationalism...

:)

That is what I meant. The update action was only a catalyst and it would have failed possibly anyway. It is the specific suspect hardware design that is the issue and IMHO M$ should recall the Xboxes or realy find a working solution to the problem.

This is one of the main issues preventing me from buying the Xbox in the first place and it made me decide to opt for a PS3 as first choice. Who want to purchase a new Xbox and when RROD comes around while its fairly new then it is replaced by a old repaired box? LOL

New update works fine with me as well.

It's pure coincidence, media hype discrediting the Xbox 360 each turn that they get.

If your console is going to die (RROD, etc) then an update won't have much bearing on it.

Getting tired of these stories BTW :D

No problems here either. Did not even know there was a problem till I saw this, and I have been playing for the past week.

In fact, when Halo Wars comes out and 360s die from RROD ... the game will be blamed.

It's a media circus I tell you :D

Nope, no problem here. Come to think of it I haven't heard a single issue from any XBox 360 owners on this forum about the dashboard update.

I must be the only person in South Africa that has the RRoD problem after the recent 3-Feb-09 update (not the NXE update from Novemeber).

Maybe it was my time to die, but I've had the box for over 2 years now, not problems, and straight after an update things go horribly wrong. Then hundreds of other people start reporting the problem on the official XBox forums.

I dunno....seems weird.

My theory is that this new update did something to the internals to make them run hotter than usual causing the RRoD to occur.
