Well, since the PS3 is imported from europe at the moment - it actually does influence the prices. Thats why, games i.e. goes gold and get sold cheaper - it went gold due to the sales internationally not locally and remember SA still has to adhere to the basic supply and demand rules. Otherwise, all companies would die down...

You would think that, wouldn't you? However, the Wii in South Africa is more expensive than the 360 Core! In Europe it is the other way around. South African importers have unique methods (one day we may understand them) of stuffing up prices and trends...

True - but even if the international trends have no influence the SA market still has - since the 360 and PS3 launched the PS2 has been obliterated (basically). . .and I know thats because of a newer version but thats the way it is the PS2 started at R2000 and is available know for R1000 thats a 50% cut! (I am aware of the time passage).

I guess that we as consumers can only hope and pray but the 360 did fall with R200 after christmas last year - not much but it did a little.

The Wii is more expensive than the core - but its new and they will have to drop it if it is going to compete with the 360 - worldwide in sold more but not in SA, XBOX still leads.
 
PS2 started at over R4000.00 here ;)
 
We got our is December 2000 for R4500.00 from Reggies.

At that stage they had very units and each tore was allocated a certain amount ...

yeah but games nowadays are so devlopment intensive that either way the game looks great but its sooooo short... Like Bioshock which was a little on the short side. I know it was short not because of the fact that they woulda run out of space, but because the development took to long... 50 gigs worht of space is not going to get you exrta game time, all that space is just gonna go towards graphics... which IMO is a waste of time..
 
I'll state it again: Nobody has said that the Xbox360 cannot span it's games across multiple discs. In fact the JAP RPG "Blue Dragon" proves that it is possible. Hence your disc capacity argument is rather poor.

Now that game well and truly sucks:sick:

I had the misfortune of downloading the demo and playing- dont get me wrong , graphics wise aint bad, but playability sucks:(
Pity considering how i was looking forward to that then ended up buying motorstorm instead:(

If you dont want that space going to extra graphics, why buy a next gen console? Secondly, you cannot say that space doesnt equal longer game time i.e. Blue Dragon.

Also spanning games over 2 or more discs is possible - I know, but to get 50gb youll need 4 dvd discs and that is something that might bother some people - not me as I do own a 360?

Regardless of whether that is true, that would simply have been SK ripping off the local consumer. The PS2 was released at $300 and GBP300 (ripping off the UK consumer).
