My wife gave me a PS4 for my anniversary present (total surprise) so I would say PS4

Xbox One looks quite promising though will the non-Kinect version be the more powerful model they were harping on about a little while ago or just the same hardware without the Kinect camera included?

Also, ugh @ external power brick... makes trunking such a schlepp.

price aside...so which is better PS4 or XB1?

There different ways to measure better.

Hardware wise the PS4 is better in every way. Better GFX card. More faster ram. It's smaller and runs cooler.

As for games the PS4 has a bigger range of titles. Not just first person shooters.

Also remember that currently the PS4 is owning in sales. This means more second hand games will be available and more games full stop.

Many Xbone games will also be on pc. For an all round gaming setup it's still PC plus PS4.

Oh and you can use any external HDD with the XBox One to store your games.

I was set on buying this, but after testing out Steam's in-home streaming, I'm not so sure if any console is worth it anymore...

Last I read they were in talks with multichoice to getting official DSTV support with the Xbone.

That is true. The fact that you can share games means you will have alot more. My hard drive is already 90% full after just 2 months. Luckily you can add external storage.

Well the PS3 and PS4 make it super easy for the user to swap out the hard drive.

Not so much for the xbone.

You just plug in an external hard drive for additional space.

The voice recognition is amazing. You can use it to switch to dstv/netflix and control the volume using your voice , but you cant change dstv channels using voice.

Just my 2cents. DO NOT buy a xbox one without kinect. A xbox one without kinect = PS4. They are very similar to each other. Xbox tips it for me due to the kinect,controller and more games/exclusives. The kinect is truely amazing and I love the way they have integrated it into the games. There are amazing deals for digital games and I love the fact that you can give your friends access to all games.( not sure if ps4 can do this, but imagine it can).

Xbox was never meant to ship without Kinect.They only did this to drop the price..how sad.
