Xbox One X downloads are ridiculously massive

No you don’t. Which is why I said buy the unbranded Seagate one.

These are just great because they have the USB hub built in and offer huge capacity.

I have the 4TB.

It doesn’t work on PS4 though.

These drives are also pretty fast for mechanical ones.

Same here - would download quickly with my 100 meg fibre line. Only issue is HDD space - my Xbox One S has 500GB internal and looking at an external now.

Actually neither screen resolution or frame rate has anything to do with increasing the file sizes.

It's the material map resolutions and high poly geometric data which takes the space.

100GB takes around 2.8 hours to download on a 100Mbps line.

I think the problem is that someone who has cash and wants 4K gaming is more likely to have a gaming PC and a fibre line. It's the people (many on this forum) who want budget 4K gaming with an Xbox that are less likely to have uncapped fast fibre and therefore could struggle to download hundreds of gigs of games.
 
Not everyone has access to fibre, even though they would be able to afford it.

That's a bit of a generalisation. Like many, I have fibre and money isn't the issue. I just don't want to game on a PC.

Having the money doesn't automatically mean a migration to PC gaming...

Many PC gamers have consoles too, some games are just better on massive TVs with the gents around.

True, but the point is that money isn't the deciding factor in these things.

It's not accurate to say that those who want "budget" 4k gaming are less likely to have fibre. For many it's not a question of budget, but preference...

500GB Telkom night surfer will take a beating as if it's not already suffering but atleast it won't cost you an arm and a leg just R50 and maybe a couple of nights.

Yeah 100Mbps will handle it fine the real question here is will xbox servers be able to handle these massive amounts of data over xbox live.

No not everyone has Telkom LTE but a decent amount of people do and I would say LTE is the only service that can actually try and compete with fibre to be honest albeit it's share resource so can slow down but offers great peak real world download speeds.

Pretty much this. Money isn't the deciding factor for me to PC game or not. I just prefer the simplicity of console gaming.

Ditto. Don't have time to pore over ever changing component specs and reviews and then hunt down the perfect gpu and boards, spend forever assembling, by which time its all out of date anyway. Been there done that and it was fun and a good learning experience and recommended for those with time on their hands who want to learn hardware, but later on when you have a real job and family commitments it's much more practical to stick to consoles which at least you know are guaranteed to run games at least at a minimum acceptable level of performance.
