Xbox One X downloads are ridiculously massive

Fibre User: Why are you complaining? It's only 4 hours wait

Not really something marketing should say unless there are 1st party external HDDs like the PS1 & 2 did with memory cards.
 
Was to be expected. a Normal 4k movie averages what? 100GB? Not re-mastered but original 4k content. Games are way bigger than movies

So there goes the online purchases unless you have a fat Fibre connection.

Well not really the average here is 100GB for games.

And you can start playing most of them before they are finished downloading so it's kind of a non-problem.

Been fully digital on Xbox since I got it.
 
Can you copy these files from a friend or do you need to DL them yourself?

I'm no gamer, just wondering...
 
Xbox One S was no better. Halo 5 was ~98GB.. PLUS then another ~8GB update.

Even if you buy a disc you still have ridiculous downloads for the updates - e.g. Forza came bundled with the thing but still required 9GB d/l.

And you thought streaming was killing bandwidth?? Lol, it's the gamers.

that is MASSIVE

The worst is spending the arvie prepping for an evening of gaming, popcorn, coolies, comfy chair...

"This title needs to be updated before you can play online"

Not saying it's not where gaming is going. This will affect ALL formats of gaming going forward. The problem is we don't have the internet structure to support this kind of gaming. Well most people don't, so it will not take off in SA as much as elsewhere.
 
No headache for me on 50 meg fibre. Would only be a 4-5 hour wait.

It used to be way worse back when I had a 1 meg ADSL line, and got home to find a 3 gig update waiting for me...

Even when I was on 4MB my digital pre-orders still got to me before the courier could.

So it’s a non-issue really.

Do you really need these special products? I just plugged a cheap 2TB USB3 Transcend portable HDD in to my Xbox One, it asked me "do you want to use this for downloaded games from now?" and I said yes, it initialized it, and it's worked perfectly ever since.

I didn't even know these special/branded products existed - probably a good thing, else I'd not have just tried to plug a cheapie in :)

So you sit down to game at 7pm after your wife is finished watching 7de laan and it tells you it needs to update... no headache? :p

That's why there's a tv in the room. The lounge is my domain. You guys need to learn how to control yo women...
