I'm considering purchasing a PS3, my friend tells me that the XBOX is better.

I like the PS3 because it also have Blue Ray and Wifi.

But is the XBOX really better???

I would suggest looking at how much the games cost!
are ps3 games more expensive than xbox?

If I had to chose, i'd prob. go xbox.

PS3 is a little more expensive than XBOX I think, but not much.
Game prices doesnt really bother me.

Is the PS3 better value for money?

Here we go again. Seriously there is a search fuction for a reason.

then I say get Xbox. PS doesn't rule the roost anymore, Xbox does.

Xbox is more widespread in SA AFAIK....

Check the sticky.

The question basically comes down to do you want a gaming console or a multimedia machine.

Gaming & online play = 360
Multimedia = PS3

Although both can do a bit of each. The Xbox does multimedia just as well as the PS3 in terms of streaming, Xvid/Divx and the like, but the PS3 nudges ahead when it comes to physical media because of BR. Similarly the PS3 does games well, but it doesn't quite have as good a games library or as many exclusives as the Xbox. It supports online play as well, but again it's nowhere as good as Xbox Live.

Lots of Xbox games on the second hand market, xbox can be flashed to play "backups"
Xbox is cheaper to start off with.
PS3 has blu-ray cant play "backups" yet i think
But at the end of the day PC FTW!! Also this topic has been discussed theres no answer.. buy what u prefer

LOL...PS3 ??

Dude...how can you decide just like that, in 3 minutes of the thread starting, and 1 or 2 basic reply's ?

Remember, you are gonna sit with your decision for a long time hey, and games are expensive you don't wanna make the wrong choice....

Rather hang around the forum for a day or two, and then decide.

Xbox is much more popular these days than PS. sorry, but it's the truth.

If it's not your primary gaming machine and you are actually going to make use of Blu ray get the ps3.

If it is going to be your primary gaming machine get the xbox.

Exclusives don't matter as much now because both of them have enough games to keep you satisfied unless you're unemployed, in which case you can't afford the games anyway.

Thanks guys

PS3 it will be

:)

On the basis of what argument? Seriously though, if you're getting the PS3 just for Blu-ray, maybe hold out and see if the rumor that the XBOX is getting a BR-drive are actually true. In that case, I'd recommend the XBOX fo'sho. Many of the cross-platform games are rated better on the XBOX than the PS3 and the XBOX exclusives are a bit more desirable than the PS3 exclusives (unless you're a Solid Snake fan...).

I'd recommend you read up on the net a bit more. Visit www.xbox-360.co.za/forum and www.playstation-3.co.za/forum/ and make up your own mind then.

don't worry ....... give him a month and he'll be back here moaning about what an expensive brick he bought ;):D

I would get an Xbox 360 because it is more popular locally and also, if you ever do the online thing, Live is better.

You can get an Xbox 360 Arcade for R2000. Think of it this way, if you regret you choice, it's a less costly mistake than if you had gone with the PS3.

I'm going to stick with PC until there are no decent games coming out, before I move over to consoles.

Its your personal choise. Doesn't help you ask here or listen to anything said here as there are a lot of fanboys as you can see here http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=125082 who will keep arguing with you to get you to buy the console they support. I mean, you just said yo uwant a PS3 and allrady they are telling you what a bad choise even though the PS3 got a load of cool titles and more to come.

I own both consoles and they both got good titles and exclusives.
Here's my suggestion if your not allready set on getting the one or the other, or to whomever else might come along and read this thread.

From gaming point alone...
If you got a tight budget but want a console, the 360 is a no brainer.
If you can afford a PS3 go and have a serious look at the exclusive titles available and comming on both and maybe decide from that. Keep in mind that games are becoming more and more multiplatform but you will still get your exclusives from first patry publishers.

Have a look at metacritic, its got a pretty good list of the titles.

If you know you want something that got some really good multimedia capabilities, well, I guess the PS3 is it. Isn't it the cheapest bluday player on the market? Also, unlike some other bluray players, the PS3 firmware updates are really easy and will ensure that your PS3 always include the latest bluray support. The rest they both got, streaming, video store, music store.

At the end of the day, if you get a PS3 now and you like gaming you will probably end up getting a 360 too for some of its exclusive titles. I'm fortunite to be able to own a good PC and both consoles so take into account thats where I'm coming from with my pov. If a game is multiplatform I get it on PC as its cheaper (though if you are able to wait a 2 weeks or so you can nromally pick up a console title for R300-R400 second hand) and will look better, else I get the excusive I like for the console it comes out on. There are some titles that might be multiplatform (PC and console), like DMC4 which I rather get on the console as it is just more fun to play on console.

I plan to be like you, Xuber.

First get my 4870X2.
Then Xbox 360.
Then PS3.

All hooked up to my LCD TV.

Thanks for all the replies guys

The XBOX def sounds better for gaming.
I liked the PS3 because of the Blue ray.

I actually wanted to buy a gaming PC, but decided against it when I saw the price of a decent one and in 3 years would have to get a new 1.

Would any 1 recommend chipping a XBOX??
Will this shorten the XBOX's life span?
