Its your personal choise. Doesn't help you ask here or listen to anything said here as there are a lot of fanboys as you can see here
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=125082 who will keep arguing with you to get you to buy the console they support. I mean, you just said yo uwant a PS3 and allrady they are telling you what a bad choise even though the PS3 got a load of cool titles and more to come.
I own both consoles and they both got good titles and exclusives.
Here's my suggestion if your not allready set on getting the one or the other, or to whomever else might come along and read this thread.
From gaming point alone...
If you got a tight budget but want a console, the 360 is a no brainer.
If you can afford a PS3 go and have a serious look at the exclusive titles available and comming on both and maybe decide from that. Keep in mind that games are becoming more and more multiplatform but you will still get your exclusives from first patry publishers.
Have a look at metacritic, its got a pretty good list of the titles.

If you know you want something that got some really good multimedia capabilities, well, I guess the PS3 is it. Isn't it the cheapest bluday player on the market? Also, unlike some other bluray players, the PS3 firmware updates are really easy and will ensure that your PS3 always include the latest bluray support. The rest they both got, streaming, video store, music store.
At the end of the day, if you get a PS3 now and you like gaming you will probably end up getting a 360 too for some of its exclusive titles. I'm fortunite to be able to own a good PC and both consoles so take into account thats where I'm coming from with my pov. If a game is multiplatform I get it on PC as its cheaper (though if you are able to wait a 2 weeks or so you can nromally pick up a console title for R300-R400 second hand) and will look better, else I get the excusive I like for the console it comes out on. There are some titles that might be multiplatform (PC and console), like DMC4 which I rather get on the console as it is just more fun to play on console.
