OK OK, let's say I decide on the X-Box 360, which one, I know the elite has HD, but don't really know what else makes it more worth while. Are there any main Differences between PS3 and Xbox. Facts based. ?
If you're going for a 360 the best value for money is definitely a Pro bundle. It has everything you could want for the 360 in the box. The Elite differ only in colour (black) and HDD size, it's 120Gb, and it has an HDMI cable in the box.
As far as the pro goes, There are a lot of different bundles available
1. Pro + halo @ R3799
2. Pro + AAA game (PES08, Forza or Halo) + extra wireless controller @R4000
3. Pro + 4 games (Forza 2, Viva Pinata, Fifa 08, WWE 08) @ R4000
Chose a bundle depending on your gaming preferences. Chose the Elite if you're really keen on big downloadable content like demo's, Xbox Originals, MMO's and possibly in the not to distant future, movies.
As far as vs the PS3 goes, there's about 400 thread you can look through to revisit the flame war, but I'll summarise it all in one little point: Games.
@EtienneK - nice summary
Prices/features/performance - the balance between the two are pretty much a wash, look at the games catalogues, both released and forthcoming and
chose the console with the games you want to play. My breakdown on that is:
The 360 has the widest, deepest and highest quality selection of games, both exclusive and multiplatform. It's also the primary development platform for most multiplatform games which up till now has been evident in the 360 version of most games being slightly better. This may or may not change. Due to its heritage it also has a lot more PC style games. It's also the choice platform for small independant developers because of Live Arcade and XNA.
The PS3 on the other hand has its own unique catalogue with it own big budget exclusives. While there is often a difference with multiplatform games, it's not as bad as some make it out to be.
If you want to see an indication of what to expect for the next year at least, have a look at this thread:

The other little thing to factor in between the two is the online service, and while Live! may be a little bit of a hassle at the moment, it stands head and shoulders above the competition, in content (Arcade, demo's, betas, Xbox 0riginals etc, non of which require gold), features & active community. It's a bit like comparing a couple of Corner Cafes, with a PicknPay Hypermarket.
