Hello there.

I had my 2nd Xbox die on me a few months back. It was still well within the warranty period. I had a very (very x99) bad experience on the phone with them and decided that I'd rather hit my nuts with a rock than wait for them to give me a new one. So I looked for a few alternatives. I came across this dude who calls himself maestro (;)). I sent my Xbox to him and for a very, very reasonable price he replaced my DVD drive entirely. I can honestly say that I will never go the MI Digital route again. I haven't seen such quality in service and general all around niceness as I have seen from QuickFlow IT (maestro's repair service) in a very long time.

So if you would rather eat your own face than talking to MI Digital, give QuickFlow IT a try.

Thanks again for my working machine. (PS: Why the hell is it so quiet now?)

Thanx iDDQDm0de. I am actually busy with maestro trying to sort out my Xbox (starting phase) and was a bit worried about service wise.

Thank you very much for setting my heart at ease that he gives good service.

PS. How long before you got it back from him?

It took me longer to get it to him than it took for him to send it back to me.

EDIT: It will take MUCH longer to get a new one from MI Digital. Trust me :)

Hi

I cleaned that console as the dust bunnies would've given the average person an asthma attack :D

The new drive is just quieter to be honest ...

@ Xenophon: I have a rather huge workload (average 6 consoles a week), so my apologies before I get you sorted. The problem you have, I'm doing an experimental procedure in regards to it. If it doesn't work, then you will just have to plump for a wireless adapter I'm afraid.

Xenophon I can vouch for Maestro's work, he sorted out my xbox beautifully :)

@Maestro... Dude you going to catch the black lung at this rate, I hope you wear a face mask when you working.

After you console, a face mask was a great investment :p

On the question of your older console with E74 ... I've been doing research and price-hunting on the procedure we discussed a while back. Looks like I can order a pre-heater from the UK at a reasonable price, but a IR station and re-balling equipment doesn't seem to be cheap.

Might have to consider business loan as a finance option :(

Ah man its cool, dont put yourself into that sort of debt unless the demand is really great.

I was watching on youtube what machines they were using to reball the xbox... its hectic.

Thanx Maestro.

How much would the wireless adapter hit me?

Imported from my UK supplier (2-3 weeks) = R850 brand new.

You can search locally, but it retails R1k+.

I'll finish that other console tomorrow, then I'll let you know if it's a viable repair or not :D

I ship it in on a order to order basis. Don't like to sit with stock

I'll give feedback as soon as I can.

Something funny:

Like I said, 2 Xboxes had their DVD drives fail on me. I often wondered what it could have been.

My first game I ever bought for my console was Assassin's Creed. My Xbox always had that game in it when it started acting up (2-3 weeks after first playing it). I haven't played it since maestro repaired mine, but I gave it to my friend because I finished it twice.

2-3 weeks after my friend first started playing Assassin's Creed his DVD drive won't read Xbox games. (errors: Disc read error, Open Tray, To play this DVD please insert it into an Xbox 360 console, etc.)

I searched on the internet. ALOT of forums tell the story of people's DVD drives not working.... last game played? Assassin's Creed.

Maybe that game puts more strain on the laser. Continuously reading when playing a game
