This is true yeah, but the sad thing isn't the NVME that's the cost it's the adapter that is used :-(

The Series X|S has made me realize how horribly unrealistic GPUs are priced at here in SA, even abroad, complete ripoff for what you get. I have a 5600 amd GPU but seriously not impressed vs what I get with the "budget" Xbox.

Yup but it's mainly thanks to the chip shortage and of course miners, every so often the miners dominate the market, it happened in 2017 and then it crashed and in 2019 you could get GPUs cheap cheap. I paid R1400 for a GPU and one year later almost doubled the price on it in 2020, if I had held on to it for 2021 I would've made 4 times the price.
 
Any stock of the Series X anywhere? I can't seem to find any local retailer (CPT) or etailer with stock...

I'm just a bit wary of a 3rd party seller, with markup :( and a 5-7 day wait - but I guess everywhere is out of stock and it's inflated pricing or nothing.

Now all of a sudden it's R13,999 ? But Series S is still the same price.
 
Don't pay the inflated prices. Check every day and wait for a drop to land at the normal price...

game4u.co.za has stock - so I bought a bundle for R13499 (will just sell the games if possible). Waiting for my mail to advise when I can collect in store (stock ex JHB --> CPT).

Also just signed up for Xbox Ultimate Game Pass (there's a nice hack atm to get it cheap):
