Xbox Series X / S

Just saw this at pnp for r249, was about to take it. Can you switch on your xbox with it?

As far as I can tell all universal remotes can/still work with Xbox Series Consoles (IR receiver in the controller bind button)
When in Standby mode any programmable IR (even the Broadlink IR mini) can be taught to turn it on/off

For me, the problem is finding one that is both small (Without the numbers and extra jazz) and have access to A B X Y. My 1st choice is PDP talon for Series that I cant find anywhere, guess i'll have to wait a year for them to up there production. :(

Edit: Till then mine is linked to Google Voice + Home Assistant and using a Rii mini 8 to navigate.

Thinking of getting the previous model PDP Talon as that is still available on Amazon UK.

Same. I was baited into the 200 Mbps free upgrade during lockdown. After that I just could not go back down...
How dare they.

Had 384kbps-1mbps adsl for ages. Got 20/20 at work and jumped to the same when we finally got fibre in the area. Experienced 50/50 with the free upgrades, although I think my ISP started faking it as of late. 20/20 is enough.

My jump to 100/100 is so small, but with the 50/50 that already hurts, I backed down and will remain on 50/50 for the holidays. In fact, I think I need to put through my downgrade instruction in a few days.

In other news, 1TB simply ain't enough. Even my extra 2TB external could not muster all the games on Game Pass. I present to you, my new 4TB baby:

Read the caption. Xbox Series one S. I wonder how many parents are going to get duped and get their kids their "series s" for xmas (at like double normal price). Shady to say the least.

Ok so it doesn't have to be linked to an actual xbox serial in any way?
Nope. I bought a random xbox game before I had my box. M$ has no quibbles in taking your money if you want to give it to them.

Quick one gents, got a series x coming through in a couple of days but want to grab a few games from the store before the price goes up...can I buy games from the xbox store before actually owning an xbox? if so, how?

You sure can.... by using the website: https://www.xbox.com/en-za/games/all-games?cat=onsale

I have yet to buy a game via the console.

Edit: Just note it will add the games to the account you logged in with. Don't be like this nana typing here and buy a game, only to realize after hitting purchase that he was logged into his dev account on Microsoft. You can reverse the sale... its just a pain + extra hoops.

Thanks Gents... after over 20 years of being a PC gamer i've decided to take the plunge and go the console route cos I believe it's truly a defining moment for consoles and half decent Graphics Cards are just overpriced now.

Gone console for the exact same reason. My only problem is FPS games.

My strategy to overcome this problem is starting off with RPG sword & magic games and take it from there....

I've got a Series X and a really pernickety problem.

My Microsoft profile was previously set to a UK locale. I changed it as well as the xbox location to South Africa. I also loaded a 12mth MEA region Live Gold sub.

All was fine until I tried to upgrade to Gamepass when I hit a region error. This happens from the Xbox UI as well as the browser. The pop-up suggests changing your region or contacting support if that doesn't work.

Those of you who've tried will know that Xbox support is practically non-existent at the moment. You ring the number and the IVR refers you back to the website to request a callback. The website does not allow you to request a callback and chances of getting a live chat session are slim to none.

I am hoping I can eventually reach MS and get support to recognise my Gold sub in the local region.

So with all this I'm restricted to my old games (downloads as the physicals are back in London), the free Live Gold titles or making new purchases. Forza 5 and Fifa 15 load times are massively reduced and looks great albeit representative of their age. Destiny 2 looks great and flies along and Mudrunner hardly taxes a machine of this calibre and plays as it would on anything else but there was a good Black Friday saving on all the expansions. I'm using a Samsung Q60 so can do 120FPS or 4K.

Desperate to play something more recent like Forza 7 but don't want to buy it given its a Gamepass title.
