I've got an XFX 4870 that's just died. It's just under 2 years old so I think it's still under warranty. I bought it from PC Zone who only cover the warranty for 1 year, so I assume that I need to take it straight back to the supplier who will then swap it out.

Does anyone know which supplier will swap it out for me? Thanks! :)

... Random question: Did you register your card with XFX?
Last time I checked Axis sold the XFX cards? ... that was eons ago

Frontosa also sells them.

Maybe ask PCzone which is their prefered supplier for that item. Then call those guys, quote the serialnumber on the warrantee sticker & hear what they say.

PC Zone is supposed to cover it for 2 years if the manufacturer has a 2 year warranty in SA!

Yes I did register it, but I'm not sure it it makes any difference - their support page doesn't even include Africa under regions. I also remember seeing axis being mentioned in another pc zone thread - thanks for reminding me ;) Is it Axis or Axiz? As in http://www.axiz.co.za/ ?

Thanks, I think I'll do that :)

Yea, does not make that much of a difference. We are not covered under their double lifetime warranty. It is more like... "did the consumer read the warranty card and follow the registration instructions?"

Gives you one more card to play with in a sense.

Axiz is the correct one. I have this bad habit to spell it as Axis...

I agree with you, but I'd rather not deal with their useless staff. Taking it directly to the supplier will probably save me some headaches :p

True, but suppliers are usually relatively understanding when replacing components. Though, as you say, I do have that card to play if there's any problems. I also used to spell it Axis so no worries :)

Good luck, my XFX card was 18 months old when it died and I got no joy regarding warranty.

Great :( I'm not even sure how long the warranty on this card is - it looks like it might only be a one year warranty after all.

I've posted a ticket on the XFX support site asking how long the warranty is and whether the lifetime warranty covers SA as well. Hopefully I get a response soon!

Thanks for all the help so far guys :)

registered at the site and asked the same question ..... no luck bru :(

Axiz won't take it back. PC Zone has agreements in place with their distributors that returned hardware must come via them and no one else.
I'm sitting with a similar dilemma, my 1.5TB Samsung HDD is faulty and I can't find the invoice for which they wan't to charge me R150 even though the HDD is on their system and that of Axiz (I verified).

What happens if you moved from KZN to CT for example?

When it comes to service that company sucks donkey balls and as you said their staff are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

There was a thread where a XFX card bought from a closed down PC shop was successfully returned to Axiz. Why would PC Zones stuff be treated differently? Afaik they aren't grey imports.

Only Axiz can answer that question. They will not even take it back if it came via another of their registered dealers, me registering as a dealer with them won't even help.

Hmmm.. i thought that Axis warranty was fantastic , many here have posted how wondfull it was to deal with them, i wunder what has changed ????

as far as warranty of the vga is concern PC Zone should swop out that card if it is under warranty and send it back to Axis unless they now starting to act like a Sahara , that only gives a one year warranty on everything they sell, even though the item has a longer warranty period.

we dont have a PC Zone down here , so dont know their actual warranty polices

Reading this thread I'm starting to think it's best not to deal with PCzone.

Stinky customerservice
Stinky business policies

Well, an XFX technician replied and said :

Please note that the warranty is the ultimate responsibility of your reseller. This period can differ between different regions and we recommend contacting your reseller for more information.

So, not very helpful then...

I'm going to contact PC Zone to see if they'll honor the 2 year warranty, which they probably won't. After PC Zone fails, which they inevitably will, my next step is then Axis. Will keep everyone posted.
