Xiaomi Mi Box / Mi Box S [Android TV OS]

I'm on nougat and don't see what everyone is complaining about. The beta is not that bad.
Only issue now is DSTV Now suddenly stopped working after update, going to try and revert to previous version.

Does anyone else issues with youtube...? Since the January update I find videos start less than half the time. I have to exit and go into them again before they start playing. Also constant disconnect issues from the wifi or I get "no internet" connection error (I guess thats related to the wifi issues some people have). Last year both my boxes were running perfectly fine without any issues but now it's honestly a pain.

Yes I did that last night. Downloaded WiFi analyzer and saw which channel would be best. Also did a factory reset on the Mibox. Gonna monitor it today and see if it has made any difference

Zero difference to before... The WiFi is terrible. I get 2mb speed on the Mibox while getting a 10mb speed on my phone and Telkom Lit box. I unfortunately rely on WiFi connectivity and not LAN, so this is super disappointing from the Mibox. Time to put this box in storage. Hopefully an update to nougat will fix it.

That doesn't sound right, are you connected to the 5GHz?

I'm using 5ghz and no issues this side.

One issue I'm having is the remote not picking up every now and then. I then have to pull the cable to do a hard reboot. Quite annoying.

I've got the same youtube issues, none of your network problems though.

Unfortunately my router isn't dual band, but I'm happy to buy a dual band router to solve this issue. I can only connect via 2.4ghz but I can't see how the different band will solve the issue as all my devices work perfectly fine on the 2.4 band, only the Mibox is problematic and slows down my entire home network. Router problem? I don't know. Only one way to find out.

These types of devices beg to be connected to 5Ghz, I read that giving the box a static IP and setting it to use Google's DNS improves it for some people but if you're router isn't dual band it must be quite old.

If I check the places people complain about slow Wi-Fi it's almost always someone with a crappy ISP issued router and someone with a nice new router will come in with a screenshot showing him getting 200+Mbps when connected to wireless AC.

you are 100% correct with the crappy ISP issued router as that's what I'm using, the Zyxel router. Will look for a dualband router today.

What i do is just hold down the back button and home button then the bluetooth will try connect, works for me.

If you use a separate router and modem and it sounds like you don't care about Ethernet look at the Tenda AC6.

Got the Tenda AC6 router and am very impressed with it, thanks for the recommendation, however, it still hasn't fixed my issue. No matter whether connected to the 2.4Ghz or to the 5Ghz band, still can't get more than 3mbs download. Even tried connecting the Mibox right next to my router and same outcome. All my other devices getting the proper speed except the Mibox. Landed up buying a USB to ethernet adapter and wired the connection, and finally getting the speed that I'm paying for. Seems to have solved the issue... Hopefully this will help for anyone else who might come across this issue.

My next recommendation was going to be the UGREEN USB Ethernet adapter, it seems to be the most compatible.

Any comments on the MyGica ATV495Max running on the Android TV OS ?

See the last few posts @ The Droid thread.

Been there done that. I also originally suspected the router and ended up replacing it. Then when that didn't help I ended up with two ethernet adapters and that only works intermittently. I think some of us just have boxes that don't perform that well after the last update. I NEVER had any issues before the last update but not on both my boxes there are intermittent issues. (Youtube and sometimes crunchyroll playback being the most frustrating)
