Xiaomi Mi Box / Mi Box S [Android TV OS]

Ok, so I got the Mi Box and sitting on my work table. What apps do I need to install as soon as I get home and installed the box?

Want to use it to watch the latest movies and series. Also, downloading the suggested apps from the Play store or from an external apk source?

Also got mine today. Netflix is preinstalled so I've simply installed DSTV Now and Showmax from the app store as well.

Tv app repo so that you can install chrome from a pc by logging into the playstore.
 
Also got mine today. Delivered to my door less than 24hrs from when I ordered :)
Netflix, Showmax and DSTV Now working.
I like the bluetooth remote with voice functionality - definitely something that's missing on my Lit Box.

Quite a noob when it gets to this stuff.

To get DSTV Now working on the Xiaomi Mi Android TV Box I simply have to download it from the Official App store to work?

Is that version of the mibox the same as the one discussed here. Same question as Cobus asked.

Also saw that and I haven't even had mine for a week. Same one.
 
So this has probably been asked, but can this box play netflix HD or 4K? I.e. is it netflix certified?

Try this, https://www.netflix.com/title/80018585 (or search netflix for "test patterns").

Pick any the highest video quality episodes and watch the yellow text top right. The quality is adaptive and may take several seconds/minutes to settle. On my LTE internet connection and chromecast, the video started at 320p then slowly ramped up towards 1080p (which is the max for my chromecast, I think).

Supposedly you need at least 5mbps for HD and 25mbps for UHD/4K.

Thanks, the Mi is plugged into my older 1080p TV and I've got Netflix with 4k working on my other TV via its native app. I'll plug it in and test when I get a chance.
 
Got around to test the Steam Link on the Mi Box. Works seamlessly.
Any suggestions where I can get a budget friendly, wireless steam controller? My 360 controller is long in the tooth and ****ed.
Wish they still sold the Mi Gamepad....
