I played around with the different camera apps. From MIUI 7 to 8 there is supposed to be an update to the camera. The UI looks different but not the photos.

I tried Google Camera too, and not notice much difference.

I also tried Open Camera and dislike the interface.

Snapdragon Camera force closes.

The best camera I found, with regards to quality and interface, is Camera MX. It also allows you to shoot 4k video. I'm photo settings you can change the JPEG compression factor too.

Open Camera has a better focus and the tilt metres help getting a good shot without having the image looking stretched IMHO.
 
Hi guys, to those of you who have received your phones:

1. Have you used headphones on yours yet? Mine has a weird issue where it sometimes detects the headphones and sometimes not.

2. Have any one bought a hardcover and tempered glass? Where?
I'm looking at this cover from Takealot but want to know how flimsy it is?

I ordered a hardcover case and tempered glass from Ali Express for R100 total.
 
Ah, the joys of Adroid. Boot up the phone for the first time. Some google service stopped responding. Reboot the phone, all good. 2 min in the play store, play store has stopped responding.

Also, my device rattles at the top/back. Very annoying.

After 48hrs usage

So I have migrated from a 1 year old S5 to this Note 3 since Saturday. Here are my PRO's and CON's so far:

PRO's:
  • Battery life seems to be amazing with only a 4% overnight drop
  • Call quality is great and dual sim works well
  • Fingerprint scanner is brilliant - unlocks and turns the screen on as soon as I touch the reader - EVERY TIME!
  • I have adjusted and am enjoying Miui - the phone is massively more responsive than the S5 was - effect of Samsung bloatware

CON's:
  • Camera quality is a fair bit off the S5's ability
  • Kview KGUARD CCTV app crashes within 3 seconds of viewing my home camera's. Every. Single. Time
  • When I playback a call recording, I get a message saying app stopped responding or something like that, even though the recording plays back
  • Viewing the screen in the sun with my polarised sunglasses is near impossible - I had to remove my spec's
  • I miss the Samsung Whatsapp message alert tone (but Xiaomi tones are not too bad)


Overall, very very happy. Now that I have gone dual sim, I can't go back. My only real dislike here is the camera - if it could be S5 quality that would be awesome! I am still debating whether to get the hardshell cover from Takealot. I like the naked feel of the phone but know that 1 drop could kill the phone for good. I dropped my S5 once in the first month without damage and never again so I am very careful...

I'd force an in store swap-out. Take your delivery document which is dated and be firm and keep mentioning out of box failure....

Remember: CPA is on your side - "customer is entitled to insist on repair OR replace OR refund"
 
I bought this but made the mistake of only opening a IC account after the purchase. (i thought i had one, i was wrong), now i cannot track&Trace the bloody thing :(

Totally.

I normally wear shorts to work so tight pockets are not an issue. I purposefully wore jeans with tight pockets today to "test" the device. I have been in an out of 3 HI-Riding bakkies and the phone hasn't bent. Thumbs up! (Refers to JerryRigEverything on YT)
 
Can anybody who has Miui 7.5 please tell me what locale their phone is set to? It seems that the online image of Miui 7.5 for the Redmi Note 3 Special Edition is locked on China.
