Xiaomi Note 3 now R1899

If you look at the download link here:

Under Note 3 Special Edition,

You'll see that the latest stable ROM is 7.5 (MIUI 7) and the latest developer ROM is 6.9,29 (MIUI 8). Why is that? When I try to flash the MIUI one I get a warning that the ROM is older than the once currently installed, even though its MIUI 8 vs 7. Any ideas?

Basically what would happen is the owners would install the update to MIUI 7.5 during which the phone would restart. No issues.

Next time he/she restarts, the phone is stuck on the boot screen.

When I download the stable version on my pc and copy it to the internal storage and then try to run it through Updater, I get an error along to lines of "file could not b verified". Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: I also can't boot into recovery mode. It gives me a black screen with an image of the phone and USB cable. Could the phone be locked and that's why I can't flash MIUI 8?

I'm enjoying mine so far. Then again I've been using a P7 for a couple of months, so it is a bit of an upgrade.
 
Which model is this exactly, the Note 3 Pro?
Would you choose this phone, or 2hnd Samsung S5 or LG G3?
I need to get my Mom a new phone and those are the options.
 
I'm now on the developer version of MIUI 8. On their forum they explained why the version numbers differ like I asked previously.

No boot loop problem here. But also, nothing too major new in MIUI, you might as well wait for stable

I came from an S5. It's good to have a brand new phone. I like the Xiaomi's screen, battery and UI better. I think the S5 camera is better especially indoors.

Updated to 7.5 without hassle. Phone is incredibly snappy compared to the S5 I have been using for the past year. 5.5 screen is a lekker size for my big hands. Will need to get used to not having an App drawer and will need to spend some time getting the apps in order for my OCD.

Camera seems to be a fair drop down from the S5. I will monitor images and see if that is a deal breaker.

Major bang for buck at R1899 and getting used to the gold colour already. Metal is too nice to the touch to put a cover on so I am going to risk it...

One advantage to slow shipping on my device - you guys are figuring out all the upgrades etc
 
They are being shipped from the IC in Sandton City. Called and they could not find the IC order number. Lady called WeChat and sorted it out. I can go and collect at the branch!

Thankfully I did not experience. This. Only my Kguard CCTV app keeps crashing....
