Thats the SA post side of things. Once it leaves the foreign country it arives within a day or two and then gets chucked in a big pile of boxes where it lays for weeks on end without being scanned in before making it to customs. My note3 is also in there somewhere awaiting to be scanned into "arivals". 17track will work again after its been scanned into sapo the first time.

Thanks for the info

I expected a delay but 2 weeks is much longer than I expected

Something is bugging the living daylights out of me. Every day I get a notification along the lines of "running out of space. Some system functions might not work". But if you look at the screenshot, there is almost 1gb free on the system storage. Any ideas?

I know those low storage feels... This was after running the cleaner app.

I find that the smaller items tend to take longer not sure if they get lost in the pile or what. I average on about 2 months for a delivery from china so when I buy something I take that into account.

So I have come to the conclusion that GeekBuying sucks.

After the trouble of them asking for pictures of credit card and ID which forced me to use paypal, they still have not delivered after 1 month!

Its been in the country from the 29th of October but no updates on 17track.net

I tried to call the post office to get a local tracking number but the line is always engaged

Sorry to tell you Dee, but that is a fault of the SA Post Office. If you are ordering something from outside SA, then you must only insist on DHL or FedEx. EMS works well until it arrives in SA, then you are at the mercy of SAPO.
I bought a Xiaomi Note 4 from Gearbest, and it took 5 days from the moment DHL picked it up in China, to when they put it in my hands, and I live in a rural area......and that was over a weekend - 5 days included saturday and sunday.

EMS expedited shipping
I also used EMS expedited shipping and Singapore Speedpost dispatched my Note 3 Pro since 17th October. Tracking still says "In Transit". It's almost a month now, and I can't even reach customs on phone to find out if the package is in SA.

Well it looks like someone at the SAPO read this :p

The site updated today to say it has been scanned into the JHB hub on the 12th.....

Now to get to Durbz

So I thought I'd leave my experience with Geekbuying here...

I purchased the Redmi Note 3 Pro, case and screen protector from them on 28 September 2016, with courier and shipping insurance. They had to ship in 2 parcels, as the items were at different warehouses. But they erred in shipping it with registered airmail instead of courier shipping. I made a big fuss to them but all they could offer was a "sorry sir" and "it's too late now to do anything sir". In the end I at least got them to refund me the courier charges.

It was on its way to SA by 7 October. And then the waiting started. I was worried that it would not arrive in Cape Town due to the horrific backlog at JIMC, and the rumoured theft and lost packages within SAPO.

But I'm happy to say that the package containing the phone arrived safe and sound at Strand post office yesterday, i picked it up this morning. And the best part is that it completely skipped customs. No VAT or duties were payable by myself on collection. I am however still waiting on the case and screen projector, which is still at JIMC. Maybe the VAT and duties for the entire order will be payable on that.

Therefore I can recommend geekbuying but please make sure of courier shipping and if you are shipping via SAPO, you'll need to be very patient.

Got my GeekBuying case and glass screen protector today - both slightly the wrong size but close enough not to bother me.

Interesting, Afrihost is now bundling Mi phones with 1 year data contracts, including Redmi Note 2

Do you have a link to the case you bought?

Guys, are any of you having any issues trying to connect your note 3 to the pc. My phone simply does not pick up on the Mi Pc Suite and then comes with some error of needing an update.

You need to change the USB debugging setting. It's under developer options.

Thank you. How does the case fit?

Another tip guys, if you have household insure you can probably name the device on the policy without increasing your premium. My broker told me that because the device costs less than R5000 it won't have to be specified, but is complety covered by house contents insurance. Just pull the invoice from the Incredible website and submit that.

Xiaomi Note 3, to me, is better than any phone I have ever had (S4, S5, Blackberry's and Nokia's)

For what they cost, if they are as good as I've heard don't think it will be a waste, just sceptical! Thanks for the reply.

And the camera? Need to move on from my ancient Samsung S3...Xiaomi ticks all the boxes...just concerned about the camera reviews...

In sunlight - decent. Low light, a problem. My wife's P9lite is majorly superior in the camera department. It is not too much of a dealbreaker to me as my wife always has her phone and takes pics of the kids (the beach this past weekend) so I can live with the slightly inferior camera.

I would buy the Xiaomi again, even at full RRP considering it is almost R2k cheaper than a P9lite when paying cash
