Xiaomi Repair Conudrum (Redmi etc)

i have a redmi 2 with a broken screen....is it worth fixing?

In Jan they only sold the Redmi Note 2 but must have recently added the Redmi Note 3.

The 4X was recently released so overseas so the local store is two version behind and seems to be used as a way to flog old versions to Africa.

Aha, i agree. But can't find any cheaper alternative locally. Is it worth it to import your own part? The one in the link doesnt deliver to SA. Someone told me to check online stores in India, coz these devices are popular there.

Thats the same one we have. I will make sure i repair it, it's an awesome phone really. OS is better and smoother than OEM Android from my (limited) experience

Aw crap man. Shot for the update Lupus. I'll report back if i find any suitable alternative.
 
Buy a new screen from AliExpress the shippings a bit slow but it's really cheap.

Then watch a YouTube video or two on how to replace the screen it's really not difficult.

Worse case you can take the screen and phone to one of those Pakistani phone shops to do the replacement.

I have a Xiaomi Mi6 that I ordered through Gearbest a while back.
The front glass cracked and eventually a drop of water seeped in and now the screen displays every colour you can possibly think of.

Initially, I contacted https://mia.africa.com/za/ and they couriered it to their offices, only to be told that since the phone was imported, they are not going to fix it for me... How retarded is that?
They could've told me that in the beginning when I initially told them that the damn phone was imported. What a waste of time...

Anyway, I desperately want to fix this beaut but I can't seem to find a service center anywhere in SA to do this for me.
Anyone know who I can contact to get this fixed?

My old man has a redmi something or the other. Edit, I checked it's a redmi3

He wanted to pass it on to his maid who was mugged of her phone.

So he did a factory reset and now it's locked at some mi cloud account password which he has forgotten and we can't reset it.
The phone offers three things to do, two websites that only seem to work if you have a chinese cell umber and the third is some unlock code.

I called the only number offered by the official xiaomi africa website, and the muppet on the other end was worse than useless. He didn't even seem to comprehend what a mi cloud account could possibly be, when it seems like standard thing on their shitty phones.

What other options are there before I drop test this brick off a high bridge?

I had an issue with the cell number story, but it just wasnt working correctly. What does that page say or show?
 
Anyone know of a good company that fixes Xiaomi phones?
The previous company fixed the phone with fake parts so.... that didn't last.

Depending on the part, I'd suggest ordering from AliExpress and replacing it yourself.

Since most Xiaomi phones are budget devices, it is hardly ever financially justifiable to send them in for repairs.

Replaced a broken LCD display on my dad's Note 4 a while ago which I bought for like 200 bucks...

I never ordered from AliExpress before. But ok I will try this.

I got quoted R2200 for the screen, R350 for the back panel a few minutes ago.
Not all the parts are original.
 
Can someone help me pick out the parts for the Xiaomi Mi 6 on Ali?

Not sure if you are still looking. Sunskyonline also sells parts for good prices. I got my replacement screen, fingerprint reader, a new frame and back battery cover for my note 8 pro from them
