XP Lagging (Very Slow)

Just double click on it, click update driver, search windows update or online etc.

Not quite sure what that is, it could be any PCI card, so check the back of your computer to see which component isn't installed ;)

I did that. As always, Windows Update was too incompetent to find a driver for it.

uhm, sound?

Sound drivers are already installed mate. ;)

EDIT: New error. "Windows Service Pack Setup has encountered a problem and needs to close", every time I try to download windows updates. Any ideas?

Try to restart your pc and do the updates through Internet Explorer Windows Update ;)

Alright,

But is there any way I can fix this? I don't really feel like manually checking for updates every time...

Not to sound funny, but maybe an update fixes it :p

Yeah the only problem there is that I can't download the update which fixes the update error. :p ;)

LOL, what he said... ( stop copying me before i post :D ) and i prefer manual updates over auto updates...

 So you're not afraid of privacy invasion or identity theft?

PS: ANOTHER error, this time the dreaded BSOD. What to do...........

If you using an amd system i suspect you might have a winfast or asus motherboard, try to locate a set of alpha-numeric numbers near the cpu or ram e.g pvm-400 x or sumting like dat. then do a google search for drivers. your sound would probably be realtek ac'97 drivers if its onboard, which is actually used by majority motherboards and u can get from almost any motherboard driver cd (which you could borrow from a good buddy) :D .

I got the BSOD error twice now. Then it checks my disks for errors, etc and finds nothing. It's really pissing me off since this never happened before and it's a fairly new PC. (4 months old).

I bet it's those nforce drivers you installed. Do a system restore (if you created a restore point) ;)

Lucky for me, I did. ;)

Here is the error code. I will do a restore right now. It seems to only happen when playing games requiring lots of memory. I got an error earlier telling me that the computer has run out of all available memory, and shortly after a BSOD followed.

I doubt it's my memory though. Is there any way I can test it?

Stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF02EDD96, 0x94AF3A7C, 0x00000000)

Don't think it's a memory problem. I think it's those Nforce drivers. You don't have to install them ;)

Right, I did a system restore. We'll have to see what happens now. Maybe I'm lucky and it's all fixed.

The only problem now is that there are alot of things missing in the Device Manager under "Other Devices". Here is a list:

HpPSC 1300 Series - My printer, not a problem so just ignore that.
Other PCI Bridge device
PCI Simple communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Unknown Device

Should I try to find drivers for these devices? No use trying Windows Update, it's as useless as ever.

Yip, try and see if you can't find drivers, it's very hard to tell what those things are, if you are able to uninstall some of them, try that first, it may be some left overs of the nforce drivers ;)

Well, the chipset is a range of things. Those individual drivers you got from Asus should be enough and I bet Xp installed it's own set of drivers.
