XP think my P4 is a Dual Core!!

Ok, I dunno if this is common, but I upgraded from a Inter Celeron D 2.66Ghz to an Intel P4 3Ghz, same Mainboard, now, when I go to Task Manager > Performance

It shows two little CPU Usage Graphs... and Everest gives me CPU usage percentages for CPU #1 and CPU #2

STRANGE!!! :confused:
 
Seriously? ok, I was just confused, because I downloaded a HT tester from Intel and it gave me errors with my chipset and stuff.

I have a Foxconn P4M800P7MA
 
yup.... HT! I have a dual processor Xeon server here... Linux reports four processors... all due to the hyperthreading...
 
LOL, ok... now I feel really stupid!!
Anyhoo... GONE ARE THE CELERON DAYS... I've finally been blessed with a P4!

I just really got so confused, because we got a Dual Core Server recently at school and the CPU usage graph showed two little graphs. and I've never had a P4 myself... neither have we had one at school

LOL... some IT Manager I am
 
Its either athlon x2 or Core 2 Duo or that new single core Intel CPU. Everything else is crap (if its not a really cheap upgrade on a techinally limited platform).
 
With them releasing processors left right and center, I'll never be able to have an up to date system

And those 4 core, 8 core, 32 core?? chips are going to be more hype than anything else. Games are hardly making use of 2 cores yet... 4 is just going to cost you.
 
Yea but don't you find the PC's lasting alot longer nowadays?

I remember some of old PCs (486 SX, P1 100mhz, P3 800 etc) lasted like 6-12 months max before I NEEDED an upgrade because everything was s o o s l o w. Even my P4 1.8ghz didn't last that long before I NEEDED something new.

My 'latest' PC (P4 3ghz) that I bought 18 months ago is still going strong and everything still seems to fly, according my standards ;)
