Xperia X10 - SE

anybody got tower raiders v1.17 working on their X10? it fails to install on mine.

I have been waiting for ages for this phone. Now that it's here, is it still hot compared to the competition? I had a SE 910i way back and an older SE before that and loved them both. Handwriting recognition was superb (I'm not the fastest texter). I've got a Nokia now and it's just not as intuitive as SE. I want a touch-screen, Android phone with a large screen. Any comments?

Well it's this or the Desire at the moment (personally I would say go for the Desire, but it depends what specifically you are looking for) or the Galaxy S which is a month or so from hitting our shores and supposed to be very good too. And FYI, you're not going to get handwriting recognition on any capacitive screen device (so most of android is out). If it's a must have for you, look for a resistive screen phone like the SE Satio. Personally I dont really see the need for handwriting recognition, the keyboard on the Desire at least is very good.
 
MTN have this phone available on several contracts and several combinations (pay-in+lower pm or no-pay-in+higher pm). Not sure about other SP's...upgrading end of this month woot
 
R2BA020 Xperia X10 firmware rolling out

Incidentally debranded my phone to UK Generic R1FA016 and was surprised to be prompted of an available update. Turns out it was the R2BA020. My phone is only '5 days old' so battery performances can be variable but after updating to the latest firmware it does seems to last quite longer.

Here are the impressions of the firmware.

You can root your phone with R2BA023 at the moment. Looks like 025 is also about to be released....
 
went to mtn today to take out a new contract as my previous (n95-8gb) contract expired, they had no stock! now for the wait:(

im really sick of this n95 and want better, way better. i was going to settle for the Moto milestone but the guy said that the wait will be worth it?

Edit: i really wanted a phone with a keyboard, hence the milestone as im not familiar with the touch screen way of smsing, will this bother me?

I was under the assumption that R2BA023 & R2BA025 was for the american market?
the latest EMEA release for generic version is R2BA020...which came out this week OTA

You'd be nuts to take the X10 over the Desire (for those of you looking at these two phone. I personally have a Desire, and my step-father has an X10. The X10 is miles behind the desire, in just about every aspect except for the camera.
