So i had the Xtra view installed with Aerea-sat. Pathetic service, but i will save my rant for another thread.

What id like to know is if my current setup is correct.

I have 4 tv's in my house. My rooms tv has the secondary decoder and is programmed on AV.

My lounge has the primary. Channel 1 is DSTV (Lounge) Channel 2 is DSTV (My room)

In my other two rooms - i only pick up one channel and it is the lounge's DSTV.

I was under the impression that each room would be able to view both DSTV channels. Am i wrong?

Also, they informed me that i cannot watch SABC 1, SABC 2, SABC 3 and Etv now because i have the extra view.

It is turning out to be a nightmare now that i had it installed.

Any help?

You will only pick up both channels in all locations if the decoders are together, but if you connect it via co-axial instead of av cables you may be able to split it to go other rooms

You will only pick up the free channels via co-axial cables

Ask at the DSTV forum for a more in depth answer

Which installation option matches your setup ? Sounds like 1a/2a. If so, secondary is only available in your room. Easiest installation is both decoders in the lounge (option 1b/2b)

Re. SABC, etc ...unless they've disconnected you from the normal antenna, this should still work. Nothing to do with xtraview. I suggest you get someone else to verify/correct the installation

So u guy are saying it's not worth getting Xtra view, is it just another on of MULTICHOICE's headaches

It is worth it for an extra R55 or if you have a PVR then its free, as long as its setup properly. I spent 10 mins on the phone activating it and havent had any problems so far, 40 days in

I want the two 1110 decoder setup. smurfatefrog what is your setup?

Mine is HDPVR + 1110.
2x 1110 seems to be the most stable of all setups, the other combos only became available last month while the 2x 1110's have been available for 6 months or so and i havent seen many issues with it, if any
