Can I get an xtraview to work across a road from me? I have one family living in two houses and the DSTV account is all in my name, so I would like to get an xtraview installed at the other house across the road. Is there a way? We cant afford two seperate DSTV accounts and being one family would make sense to just get an xtraview. There is a dish on both houses.
 
Afaik the two decoders needs to be connected via a 'heartbeat' cable. So 'across' the road from you is going to be a limitation.

Unless you transmit the AV signal wirelessly...
 
What would I need to get to do that please? Are there people that can come install that for me?
 
Heres the thing, I am already paying R809 for the DSTV Package and if I get an extra view for the rest of my family and pay the R2500 plus installation, would still work out cheaper that an extra R809 per month for the other house, surely?

will be cheaper and more reliable for you to just gave them you dstv now login and password , and they can stream everything on DSTV
 
It would, of course.

Do you have internet on the other side? A mediabox/computer/laptop connected to DSTV Now would to an extent give you access to the same stuff.
 
Not sure I understand? Yes I have put fiber on the other side. So are you saying I can just log into the internet on the smart TV and put in the DSTV login details there and it will work?

Ok thank you - I will give it a try! Where on the net do I login in to do this - so sorry to be dense with this stuffAnd all this without a DSTV Decoder on that side? - We are using a PS4 console with that smart TV

yep, if you didn't have a smart tv and if you were willing to spend 2.5K on set up just get a decent dstv now compatible media box (ematic or telkom lit box etc) at 1/2 the price

Damn! This looks wonderful! Being a single parent and looking after elderly siblings as well as all my own kids is tough so this is a great help thanks so much Guys! I was willing to pay off the R2500 on my CC if it meant saving in the long run.
My son can now watch on his smart TV I guess just putting in the login. How much is DSTV now"? And do we get all the same channels as the package Im currently paying? - He wants to watch the sports
 
Ok so this Technology challenged Mom is being told by my teen that our TV is a flatscreen, not a smart TV and we use a PS4 console to access Netflix etc so its not a smart TV. Would I still be able to use DSTV Now on that TV or do I need to buy a device?

there should be a dstv app on the smart TV , just open that up update it if required (if not installed check the app store) it will tell you to go login to the dstv website on your phone or pc to link the tv , and you should be good to go.

its currently included in the package that you are paying for (from the R809 you mentioned i figure you are on Premium) and you pretty much get the same channels as the package you are on.
just note it limits you to 4 devices

as far as i know the ps4 doesn't support dstv now , tell your Kid xbox is better :)

yup
this will pretty much turn your flat screen into a smart (Android) TV, you will have access to the playstore, can't recall if DSTV now comes pre installed but it is available to download and you can use it for netflix as well.
