Yaris vs Getz

I'm in Durban. I did see a few in Toti but all out of my range.

Nothing better than a road trip with a new car ;)

What do you guys think about the non-franchised dealers? I can get a car cheaper from them? Are they shady individuals or not?

Not a problem as long as its a reputable one... So in other words, I'd be weary of one that's fairly new and has 10 cars but I'd happily buy from one that's been around for a few years with 50 cars... Just look at the setting of the place and see if it seems safe or not

The Hyundai dealer service in durban leaves much to be desired. Get a Yaris or a Jazz.

Get this model jazz, it is bullet proof and everything is well put together, plus it has 4 airbags. cheap to service. They change the oil filter every 2nd service. And it is no slouch in town.

Okay, I've spoken to someone who owns one and they've said the cvt is problematic and expensive to repair. Did a quick Google to confirm

Will they do a transunion check with it?

I had a look at a website for police clearance and it's terribly confusing.

No, they won't just do a TransUnion check for you, as each query costs the dealership money. Such a check would also (obviously) only show prior work done if reported properly by the repairing panel beater. And police clearance has nothing to do with checking a vehicle's history for past accidents.

Unfortunately your best bet for uncovering past repair work is a pair of trained eyes not attached to someone trying to sell you something.

Visited a couple dealers last weekend. Nothing really available for the price. I always seem to find small faults on the vehicles however damaged.

If the vehicle is still under 5 years, Hyundai have a record of all spares bought for it. If an ex Avis car, they have all the cars history on record.

So regret selling my wife's 2007 Yaris T3 Spirit:cry:. Until 100k the only problem we had was the clutch, transponder key and battery that was replaced. Sold the car with the faulty clutch and dent on one door and still got a great trade-in:).
All services were done at Toyota and the brakes needed to be replaced at the next service that was due at 105k:whistle: - and Toyota is known for being conservative and changing brakes much sooner than needed.

Had the old spec getz as a rental for a week and the Yaris is my choice.

I'm thinking of giving her my car and getting myself a new one now. Atleast I know she'll be safe.

Cost for the service, R3250

That's a bit steep is that a major service? i have been on service for 3 times and never went above above R 1500 all the instances, well the were changing lubricants and plugs i think.

Changed clutch kit last year for almost R 5000 can't remember the exact price but its less than the amount i mentioned

That was the 60k service. I am now due my 75k and it will cost R1100
