I just ordered my 1Gb stick (R1307) - should be delivered within 7 working days.
And also, I ordered the ViPower Firewire 800 Chassis - Should have that tomorrow or Thursday afternoon!!

I feel, I feel, I feel the need for speed :p

1Gb? I hope that's not a flash drive, but some proprietary hardware, like a Nano or something?

If it's a flashdrive, I know a supplier that can supply 2Gb flash drives for around R270. PM me if you want contact details.

EDIT: Ahh, RAM, phew :-) Ignore above then!

Nice :D

Now perhaps there will be a little less whining from the under-ram man?

:D

Its a stick of ram for his macbook and a separate firewire 800 hard drive enclosure

Perhaps! But I am sure I can think of something just to p!ss you off :D

Quite excited about the FW chassis, and to see how it will perform running the ||s vm off it

Seems to run fine off the FW400 so you shouldnt have any probs.

My parallels trial should end soon so it's bye-bye to that.

I must say, my purchase experience with them was quite impressive.

They were running a special ($49) up to some date (lets say 31 July 2006). I decided to buy, and when I went to the site, early on the 31st, the price was back up to $79. I e-mailed them, and told them we were in different time zones, and there is no indication as to exactly when the 31st ends. Got a response within 8 hours, with my $30 discount voucher. So I still got it at $49 :p

It runs fine on the USB2 unit as well, BUT, I will be running some serious MS products, including the possibility of an additional Win2003 server + SQL VM, so I want to try and get as much performance out of the external as possible. So it will be either my WinXP VM connecting to the Win2003 VM, or the client on the Win2003 VM connecting to the server on the same VM.

Of course I can go the bootcamp route, but then I will miss my pretty Mac OS interface too much

For $49 I might have purchased it but bootcamp is better suited for the game my missus wants to play. Once I increased that partition she was good to go.

What speed drive will you be using? FW400 on the mac is always better suited for hdd than USB2.

It is a Seagate (I think) 100Gb 2.5" 5400rpm drive. Didn't have the dosh last year to get a faster one (emergency buy to salvage my notebook) :D

I dont know how much of a speed difference you'll notice but I'm sure the extra space will come in handy. :D

I know it has for me - front row has been working overtime ;)

I've been using the external now for quite some time (used to be the 60Gb from my HP notebook), and the extra space definitely makes a huge difference. Can rip and store anything you want :D

Tell me about it - there's about 40gb free on the 500gb fw400 I got last week. Granted a lot was consolidation but still.

Eish, been putting the mini through its paces, have we? :p
Pity the 2.5" HDDs are still so small, ito capacity

Then again, I can always use the HPs 60Gb in the USB enclosure (seeing as I can't get the notebook sold) :(

Watch him stick it in his back pocket to keep it safe ;)

Aah, it is such a pretty little thing. And the box is intact, so no sitting on it :D

And the MBP rocks with 2Gb or RAM. Purrs like a little kitten :D
You're lucky - putting ram in a macbook pro doesnt require a putty knife! Keeping it handy for a new c2d cpu soon ;)

:D

lol @ bwana! Yeah, if only it was possible for me to use a putty knife to put in a C2D cpu :(
