Year from hell for Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter

Andre De Ruyter’s first year in office was a baptism of fire. South Africa experienced the worst load-shedding in history, he battled corruption and incompetence and was accused of racism.

De Ruyter took the reins at Eskom on 1 January 2020 after a six-year stint as the chief executive of Nampak.

He did not have an easy time at Nampak. Under his watch, the company’s share price plummeted because of problems he inherited from the previous management and board.

I know we keep on focusing on the downtime from Eskom but we're getting told that we need the blackouts to do maintenance on the existing infrastructure. So, how much maintenance has been done over the last year compared to previous years? Anyone know?
They're claiming enough that by Sep / Oct we may see a turnaround.
Just a claim though.
And then there's the forecasts for up to 5 years of some degree of loadshedding, also from them...

Andre De Ruyter is a very smart man, I am sure he would have pre-empted a lot of the hell he would come across before accepting the CEO job of Eskom.

if i was the CEO... id fire 80% of the staff... go to uni, get them grads and foreigners to work for Eskom... but.. i would also be murdered by the ANC before my first paycheck... or would it be before i even clocked in?

Even if you weren't murdered you'd be fired because you would be too clueless as to how to manage an entity as complex as Eskom. Thinking wet behind the ears grads can just show up and start running a power system.

I think this is also a symptom of the modern working environment. Experience does not count for what it used to 30 years ago.
If they're made appies first, and that part of the existing workforce let go more gradually, does make some sense.

This Nomlala poepal just looks like a trouble maker. Cause kak to divert from the fact that these cannot do their jobs or any job and so make some bs kak to divert. Typical way of working
