Year from hell for Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter

I know we keep on focusing on the downtime from Eskom but we're getting told that we need the blackouts to do maintenance on the existing infrastructure. So, how much maintenance has been done over the last year compared to previous years? Anyone know?
Not deRuyter’s fault. But he is fighting a losing battle on account of. I will let readers finish my sentence

They're claiming enough that by Sep / Oct we may see a turnaround.
Just a claim though.
And then there's the forecasts for up to 5 years of some degree of loadshedding, also from them...
Not deRuyter’s fault. Look at what he has to work with and the **** he has to put up with

Sure.
Which is why I said it's nothing personal to him in post #3.
But I remain a skeptic all round, so much has gone wrong before.

It still counts for a lot.
I did not say it does not count. But 30 (50?) years ago you worked your way up from scratch in a single company. So by the time you got to top management/procurement/design, you knew the intricacies of the company inside and out.

The design issues at Medupi and Kusile are clear examples of this (Source). [Yes, corruption played a role, but brain drain probably played an equal role]

if i was the CEO... id fire 80% of the staff... go to uni, get them grads and foreigners to work for Eskom... but.. i would also be murdered by the ANC before my first paycheck... or would it be before i even clocked in?
There's a good reason De Ruyter is up there and you are here, have you ever wondered why your CEO career never took off?

Lol, so Andre is doing a great job and everyone is incompetent. Interesting heroic story

I mean that was kinda the deal & I'm sure he knew it was going to be a shitshow when he signed up

Considering that the only thing people can focus on is this new racism charge, it seems so. Imagine if they could find fault with something he has done wrong...

Ah.. The fall guy.. Hope the salary is worth while..
What suddenly makes this CEO the fall guy after so many CEOs before him? he is just a CEO like any other, you are just confused because he is white so you feel like it's you duty to look for excuses.
