Yes, LCD really *is* better than plasma!

Eish! Now that is interesting...
Now I know why I don't want one (besides they're over 10 grand a time :D)

Well that could explain the increase in electricity usage we have been experiencing :)

So they draw more power?

no, for any given size N, the lcd draws the least, then the plasma with the crt the most power heavy.

problem is happening because we arent replacing our 74cm tv's with 74cm lcd's or plasmas, but buying bigger ones than we used to own. so the tickbox "television" is now drawing more power than last year, because all our tv's ar enow twice the size, and because of that power is up.

42" plasma use more power than 74cm crt.
but 74cm plasma, if it would exist, draw less power than 74cm crt.

good? lets go back to sleeping:-)

LCD is the way to go, had a plasma, and luckily it broke so in their infinite wisdom, they replaced it with a LCD of exact size, and it ROCKS!!!!! Also does not get as warm (think that is where most of the electricity goes to)

I only want a cheap 32" inch until 1080p becomes standard... so I was thinking of the Samsing 32" Bordeaux for 9k... just waiting for my damn salary to arrive in my account.

You can't. The current OLED displays commercially available are small (2.5"). There are larger TV's, but only prototypes.

Give the technology another year or two.

That was the point I'm trying to make :)

Great technology though can't wait till monitors and tv are available

Great... just what I need... a 2.5" TV :p

"Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out shouting “f#ck, what a ride!"

Thanks Frikkenator, you've made my day !!! :D:D:D

How many people still use incandescent lighting instead of the energy savers? How many people here leave their pc's running all the time?

I can live with the 340w my plasma draws while its on. ;)
