You CAN sue Eskom

Does SA even have Class Actions - I thought they were an American phenomenon?

EDIT - for interests sake wiki list the following countries who have class actions - 1.1 Austria, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States - there may of course be others.

I have no idea, to be honest.

I do suspect some people will take this up out of general principal anyways.
We may even see that if lawyers can win easily, out of a "precedent" type thing, that "smaller law firms" do it as a percentage of winnings. In other words "don't pay us - we will just take 50% of whatever you get".

no, you can TRY TO SUE eskom. Good luck with that...

Eskom : "an you prove that it was a power surge or just faulty equipment in 2005?"

Good luck on that one.

Its the principal - as it is, my tax money does not get used for me. I lose nothing.

Fair enough, but have you ever imagined how long the trial will take?? :(

Just as long as the publicity internationally is bad, I really could not give a rats a55.

Hopefully it gets bad enough that FIFA thinks again - and determines that this does indeed fall under the category of an extreme disaster.

You have a better chance to do it individually. Just take it to small claims court, and name the CEO of Eskom as the respondent. Chances are they wont pitch up and you get a nice cheaque in the mail. :D

Some couple once did it against CityPower.

Can one do that? Is Eskom not protected against that?
Because - damn, I am keen. Pay for a bigger gennie.

I fully agree with you!!! Some fat *&%# is stealing my taxes and not using it like it should be used.

Actually come to think of it the public should stop paying tax until the *****s running the country pull finger and actually do their elected job by managing the country correctly and actively sorting out things like the electricity crisis and the rampant crime.

EDIT: What's up with this forum??? Can't we now say id1ot?!?!?!? Is that too offensive?!?!
