Post your average latency these days, EXACTLY to the third/fourth digit. A lot of of people like to round down their latencies, dont. Just be honest
And give your connection specs + location.

I'm on 512kb WA Unshaped in Cape Town, Constantia. Used to receive 300-400ms yellow, now I get a fairly constant yellow/red. 570-650ms

I remember 2 years back you could play WoW on a high pop server with Shaped dsl and get 300ms. Things are supposed to get better, not worse Telkom :mad:
 
I haven't played in about a month now, as I was busy moving, but I was on 384kb WA Unshaped and used to average 550-650ms.

Wish I could play again, but i need a copy of TBC as my copy got mangled in the move, so anyone that can get me a copy of a TBC disk, please pm me.
 
usually i am in the 300-500 range, but the last few days its been worse, 500-600ish - and thats at night.
 
Mine is in the 400-500 ms range which isn't that bad, but I really wish it could have been better.

I used to average 700-800 though :P Now I have a VPN that routes me via a diginet line :)
 
Eish, my latency on WoW ranges anything from 800ms to 1800ms. The highest it's been is 5000somethingms.
 
When I first got unshaped, it was always sitting around 300-400ms. Pre 2.2 I averaged around 450-550ms. After 2.2 I'm getting 550ms-700ms (shaped?).

Hi Guys
I have a 4mbps unshaped account with imaginet and I am right next 2 the exchange. My latency used to be between 350-500 but lately its been between 500-650 all the time no idea y but it has got worse over the last couple of months.

500 - 900ms on average.

Usually around 550 - 860ms but lately I have been getting bad spikes which puts me in at around 3300ms.

So varied that it's hard to round to the 3rd / 4th digit.
 
I get rather good latency these days 500 - 700 ms

Just aslong as my ping is sub 1k ms I'm a happy camper ;)

Not so great for some of us, makes fights like archimonde very difficult. Even at 500ms you are a potential burden to the raid unless you have very fast reflexes and some luck.

Well, i used to get 400-550, now i'm pretty steady on 700-850. I'm on mweb business. The likely reason for increased latency in SA is the Contention Ratio. In europe, telekoms Contention Ratio (for those who don't know, is the number of users connected to 1 adsl line) is regulated. In SA, Telkom will not even inform their subscribers what the Contention Ratio here is. If i'm not mistaken, ICASA ruled that they have to inform us, but so far, they have failed to do so.
 
Ok, now i'm miff. Tried to play wow... My latency was 5012ms... I eventually gave up playing
 
Im also pretty steady at 600 - 800ms

The odd thing is that if you do a tracert to eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com it is around 400.

so there is some traffic shaping somewhere along the way.
 
I too have noticed an increase in latency lately. My younger brother spends all his free time in the game and he is positively fuming at the crappy latency.

I am using WA Prepaid unshaped (on 384) and switch between SAIX and Verizon. But for the last week or so, no matter which one you used, the latency was horrible. I'm talking 500+ with spikes up to 800. We used to get in the 300-450 range which was acceptable.

I got on the phone to Vanilla, thinking that they might offer a line with better contention. I was told that the contention ratio is out of the hands of the ISP and that Telkom was most likely grossly overselling the capacity on their lines. This makes sense as more and more ppl are signing up for broadband these days.

Its a sad state of affairs tbh. I would really like to do something truly unpleasant to Telkom to make them feel my pain.
