Your Average latency these days

The problem is that we have no real options. I mean Saix/Verizon unshapped are the only 2 affordable ones I can think of and both are really rubbish right now.

I just got my ADSL setup last night and the following was noticeable:

Time: 11.30pm
Location: TH (EU)
Zones:
Org / Shatt - Ping: 800ms
Felwood - 390ms - 450ms
Ratchet - 390ms
Org (2nd time) - 630ms
Shatt (2nd time) - 650ms

Logged off at Midnight

Connection: 384k with 1G WA unshaped

Will post later after a test during peak periods.

this weekend the latency seemed to stick around 300-500, which i thought was better than the last few weeks.

So from the sounds of things it is not even worth me buying a copy of the game and the expansion at over R500 if you add them together cause the latency sucks so much you can't play. I can't handle anything more than 300 when I am playing other games so 800 is not going to do it for me :( Gees. What went wrong?

I'm getting about 700 - 900 ms all the time now... but when I use VC, my ping goes to about 1000 - 1200.

I have 2 ISP accounts, one with Telkom (3GB shaped) and one with Axxess (3GB unshaped). The difference between the two is remarkable, and even more so recently. I play on Kazzak EU.

The telkom account normally gives me a daytime latency of 800 - 1000 ping times, depending on which zone I am in. At night it usually was 600 - 800. Recently (over the past two weeks) I have noticed an immense decrease in performance on this account. Daytime pings of around 1.2k - 1.8k are the norm, with loads of packet loss and spikes.

My Axxess account is really stable though, and pings average at around 600 or so, and can go down to 500 on a good night in non populated areas.

I have not been able to raid at all on my telkom account over the past two weeks due to the latency increase, since a lot of the encounters in BT and Hyjal requires a stable connection, and stuff like interruptions on essence of souls and hauling ass on Mother after an FA requires you to act quickly.

Overall Im pretty pissed off at telkom with the performance lately, because I like to hang around on ventrilo with friends when Im playing, but its so laggy that i cant even do that anymore. I save up the bandwidth i have on my Axxess account for raiding, so I avoid using it outside of raids.

Has anyone else that uses Telkom as their ISP noticed the increased latency lately?

QFT, even had a hard time healing Naj last night with the crappy lag. The problem is that even basic encounters become a real challenge when you have major spikes and generally bad latency.

Not looking forward to Archimonde 2nite, I can just see myself eating doomfires.

Average lat: 0 - 3ms NP

Yeah right ...... Oh wait, you run an EMU server right?

==========

Was on VC last night and 800 - 1500ms with loads of packet loss. I have now decided to get rid of my 3g as this has been an on and off issue for the past few month and is just not worth the money anymore.

Yeah, - EU Official I have quite a varied latency... 400-1400ms

I am on a mobile hsdpa E220 modem
and i get around 360-700ms but last nigth in WC instance i got 2200 ms
for like 5min and the weird thingd is the meter said 2200ms but i didnt notice lag the other day in bg the same thing metter said 3400 ms just after the new patch but i kicked as in bg didnt notice lag no jerky movements nothing.

Lag in BG's like AB could be fun :D
Any remember the days where one could cap a resource and run away before the defenders even see you?

More lag exploiting includes lava swimming, without taking damage!

A worrying trend to be honest.

I have been playing the game for exactly a year now and I started out with a shaped (IS) account pings around 350ms. (I have lived in the same house with the same DSL line)

By Jan this year only some 5 months later it had become unplayable pings around 1300ms and I switched to (Axxess) unshaped again pings were steady around 350 - 400ms, this has slowly deteriorated to now were it is 600 - 700 ms on average and has been noticably worse since the last patch.

I am beginning to find it very hard to tank properly without looking like I am asleep most of the time and feel like I am moving in sticky air. Cant pvp properly and arena is a joke, the only person who doesn't know you are already dead is you!

Will there be a solution long term or is this the beginning of the end. Predicting these trends forward, by early next year we are going to be out of the game!

/cry

We are experiencing the exact same problem.

Myself and a friend on SAOL and another 2 on Webafrica (all unshaped accounts) are all running around the 800-1000 mark for about two weeks now. Prior to that about 450-600...

Speaking to the resellers support (SAOL and Webafrica) they just tell you they'll look into it, but they sound like they have no clue as to what is wrong...

Does anyone know what is going on? Clearly this is a SAIX problem??

Playing on my 3G use to be great then few months ago everything went pear shaped. I now sit with an average of 800 odd the past few nights but there seems to be quite a bit of packet loss.

Currently VC is saying that they are having problems with their backhaul links with Telkom.

My ADSL is new so I cannot comment other than I am currently averaging 400 - 600 at around 11pm in the evening.

About middle of September playing during daytime is impossible, average 1500+. atm 2087ms although pings to the server at eu.login.worldofwarcraft.com average is 417ms.

This with iburst connection, tried connecting my phone and using that, gave similar latency.

I assume some service is hogging international to Europe daytime as after 5pm it seems to be better.
