Your Banker

This is exactly why I "downgraded" from all this private/wealth banking nonsense to just the cheapest cheque account option. Whatever I need done I use internet banking for. What internet banking cannot do, I go into the branch and see a normal consultant.

I've mailed FNB to change bankers but it seems they don't allow you to do that.

My genius of a private banker got back to me 2 days after I contacted her and needed something urgent done. Obviously I sorted it out before she even bothered to grace me with an email or phone call.

Sounds like the woes I used to have a few years ago with the green bank. Seems the others are just as bad though, after I changed.

*sigh

Ask them to close your account then.

I've had a similar experience to OP:

My platinum private banker is great - on the ball.
Dad's private client banker is a total waste of time.

Sent an identical instruction to both bankers.

Platinum Banker - Done in 5 minutes.
Private Banker - Cannot be done (reply after an hour). Forward her communication from my banker that it was done, Private Banker didn't apologize and got it done.

tl:dr: It's your luck, if you get a useless or good banker. Shouldn't be that way.

Investec banker is on the ball. No complaints there. Standard Bank Private Clients, not as good, but not bad. FNB - Forget it. I do have one business account left with them, everything else is with Investec and Standard Bank.

Mine used to be good then i guess she lost motivation. Sent a complaint to change - if it doesn't work then downgrade coming up (with FNB)

They all have issues... My experience..
My previous banker was awesome, then he was moved to another area..
My current banker is slow or non-responsive... however - his sidekick is amazing. She usually calls me within the hour to confirm. SO i communicate with her, and we get stuff done!

My FNB Private Banker is pretty good. Usually gets back to me within 2-3 hours of emailing him. Used to be at ABSA and she was terrible. Wanted to buy a new home and eventually had to go through the call centre as she just never got back to me. I then moved to FNB and so far so good.
