Your experience needed: Medical Aid

Apologies for resurrecting an 1 year old thread, but I am also looking at getting a Medical Aid / Hospital Plan. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Just for myself, cheap and it might be something I only use once a year...

Pretty much this. But for the wife and I.

So, not to start a new thread, what's y'all's take on the following:
Fedhealth
Bonitas
Genesis
Discovery

I have sorted through the plans and costs, and come up with these, but the only ones I have experience with are Discovery - current provider, not thrilled, could go with them or leave them alone; and Fedhealth, but that was 17 years ago that I last used them.

So, what I'm asking is your thoughts experience, should I stick with the devil I know or use whatever you guys have used with success?

Seriously considering dropping Discovery Coastal Saver to Coastal Core, the savings are just nor worth it, always fighting short payments and the providers charge far more than cash.

My recommendation would be Bonitas or Fedhealth with Gap Cover with Stratum - when the money was tight two years ago I looked at possibly switching and those to came out on top for me. (Could have changed though, just my opinion) I eventually stayed where I was.. benefits was just too good.

I'm currently on CAMAF - very expensive but worth every penny, I'd rather fork out a little bit extra and have zero worries when the crap hits the fan!

Using Bonitas Bonsave for 7 years no problems at all. Claims are paid and the Bonsave option is 150% hospital so hardly use Gap cover.
2 adults 2 children and with regular doctor visits still have savings left over

My employer forces me to use discovery, so I have the cheapest possible hospital plan. Pay cash for everything, and have a fund set aside for rainy days. There's just no way I am going to pay money into a "savings account" where a snot child tells me what I can and cant spend it on :D
