Can you please vote in the poll on which of the above options you prefer, and also let us know in this thread which services and pricing models you would like to see as a mobile data user? Your ideas may just result in something nice in months to come ;)

I would like to see a non-linear pricing structure for higher end packages – similar to broadband offerings internationally. The per-MB price must therefore decrease for higher end packages – something like:

1 GB = R 289.00
2 GB = R 389.00
3 GB = R 469.00
5 GB = R 599.00
10 GB = R 899.00
Uncapped = R 999.00 (what dreams may come :D )

I voted on same out of bundle and in bundle rate, but data carry over would be great too.

I'd take either of them happily. :)

I'd also like a data bundle that's in between the 100mb and 10mb bundles.

Let's say 45mb @ 89c a meg for R40

or

35mb @ 86c a meg for R30?

What I would like the most (though I doubt it will ever be implemented) is a flat per MB fee with no bundles at all. :)

Otherwise unused data rollover and same in/out bundle price would be great.

Large bundles should last longer than one month, ideally bundles should not expire at all, but otherwise the whole bundle system should be reworked out sort of like prepaid airtime:
Buy a bundle and you have a certain amount of days added to your data bundle "airtime window", the number of days a bundle lasts should be determined by the size of the bundle (larger bundles should give more time). Buying a second bundle before the first one has expired should extend the entire "window period" by that amount of time.

Obviously in MTN's case one should be able to buy more than one bundle per month to begin with.

As already mentioned, the pricing scale also needs to allow one to buy larger bundles than 2GB at exponentially reducing prices.

This already exists.

I can use as much data I want at a flat rate of R2 per MB.

Specifically for MTN, the nonsense which discourages customers from actually spending more on data should be discontinued -- i.e. the ludicrous system peculiar only to MTN, that prohibits you buying another data bundle before 30 days have passed since your last bundle. How much does it cost MTN to subsidise the multiple starter packs we thus have to buy at, what, 99c now, in order to 'farm' them to maintain our data access?

Yea I know that, what I meant is that the current best "in bundle" price (i.e., approx 18c / MB) gets applied directly as a flat fee and the entire data bundle concept is thrown away. ;)

R2.00 / MB is just a plain rip-off..

Since when? vodacom allow as many bundles as your want plus if you have less than 10megs left you can preload your next data bundle. If you were speaking about it expiring in 30days you're right. But at least they allow more than one purchase per month.

I'd go for all three.

The same out of bundle rate as the bundle you purchase and that unused data rollover to the next month. More affordable large data bundles would also be a great step forward. Something like 10GB for R400 (or even uncapped for R1000, even if it's only at Edge speed - one can only dream).
