Your help wanted, part 2

Perfectly vague enough :)

Now we have a benchmark to work around..

Great. Now find something specific. Telling me to get something HP or Lenovo is pointless. I need model numbers and preferably links to specs and pictures.
Not that I'm demanding or anything :p

Oh, one requirement that's not listed: decent built-in speakers. I can't keep the headphones on all day.

Ok madam, we shall attempt to satisfy your demands :p

Ok, from Incredible to start with..

This one would be top end of the budget but would probably last 4 years relatively comfortably

This Lenovo is an out of the box option :

These are just a bit more than your preferably budget, but probably closer to what you will end up with anyway :

http://www.incredible.co.za/ProductDescription.aspx?SKU=82335 (3 year onsite warranty is the killer here)

This one seems to be spot on though (open to correction from other forumites)

Thanks. Will start looking at those when I have a moment later and give feedback.
Lenovo Yoga one is out immediately - doesn't have a keypad (I have to work on financials sometimes, and it'll be annoying without), and is only 13" (size does matter).

Fair enough, but as I said, out of the box option since its touchscreen and tablet/laptop like... you can fix the keypad aspect with one of those USB keypads btw...

Will you be carrying it around a lot? The difference between 1.5 kg and 2.5-3.0 kg can feel a lot, especially if you carry it with a strap over your shoulder.

Carry it home and to office every day. Sometimes have meetings where I cart it along. And the monthly or so trips to Joburg.
Carry it in a laptop backpack. Would still prefer that it's not crazy heavy.
Specs on current laptop indicate that it's 3.14kg.

Ok, then the Dell is just slightly heavier than your current laptop...

Dell highly recommended - their onsite support is magnificent - any problems they come to your desk with all the spare parts and replace right there and then.

Also good about providing updated drivers, etc.

Deferred purchasing until first week of new month. Feel free to make any suggestions to top the Dell till then :)

unlike others trying to avoid fruitless and wasteful expenditure....besides which need some new tyres for the ferrari
