Looking back over the last year, how has your investments done?
Whether that is your house value that has increased, or unit trusts etc.

Exclude things like CGT and taxes that you still need to pay if you were to withdraw.

My unit funds went up by 12%. One property by 20%, but my valuation at the beginning of the year could have been out.

All figures for 2015, Jan to Dec.

/bookmarks...

I'll have to go have a look-see what exactly happened but I did invest lumpsums last May just before everything started going to scht

Up 300%

(Lonmin and Blu label)

As for the rest of my earnings this year.... Taste Eish...

TFSA took a massive knock since I started in May last year as mentioned. Still down 2.5% due to my stupidity. If it wasn't for costs I would've been up 1.45%.

ETF Portfolio: moved broker's, changed investments. Up 5.35% since Feb.

Single Share Portfolio: Only NEP atm. Up 4.3% since Feb.

Will have to check unit trust and RA at later stage. Stanlib's site sucks.

EDIT: Over the last year my unit trust gained roughly 6.4% and RA 5.7%. Quite pathetic.

What mistake did you make with TFSA? I want to use mine now finally.

Well, I bought on a market high. R10k of it was DIVTRX and R5k PTXTEN. I got impatient with the market going down and eventually sold them at a loss and reinvested those with my existing DBXWD and STXIND. Then those two I sold recovered and I missed out on most of it.

Considering I bought R20k worth of DIVTRX this year....the extra transaction costs incurred... well fsck. It's a hard lesson to learn but if you invest long term - DO NOT SELL!

The previous year was sideways in terms of income flows but capital stock growth was quite strong. This year was much better in terms of income flows and capital stock growth remains strong, I expect this trend to continue for the next year too.

I say this in the context of being debt free.

one day you need to give us some insight into your portfolio. no volumes. just whats in it. starting to build for long term. seems you have it figured out already.

As I started with Lonmin in the beginning I ended up selling at R37, bought at R22 weighted average after split/consolidate. Then made some money on Naspers bought at around R1955 and sold I think at R2080. But lost a bit on Aspen purchased at R384 and and I still am holding it, lucky I cashed out 50% when I went big on lonmin.

Now all the money is sitting in my bond, need a break from the crazy market and happy with risk free 10.5% less what ever I had accepted a few years ago.

After Nenegate I moved some money off shore so am holding Pounds also.....

We know how that would go down, I'm not sure if you haven't noticed but I dont carry much credit on this forum.

Up 4% on FNB ETFs using sharesaver. I am booked to try Charles Hattings course in July and then will try individual shares.
