Your Private Banking Experience

Had private banking at FNB, then switched to Investec. The experience with Investec is just way better. There's just more value at Investec:
  • My bank charges are less than FNB's (R295 vs R399)
  • 2 bonds financed at Prime -. With FNB, my bond was at Prime +
  • My Investec life insurance policy is cheaper than my FNB for the same type of cover
  • Managed to save on my vehicle and household contents insurance by switching to the Investec approved short term insurance broker. (This is my favourite saving so far because contents are covered at almost double the cover before the switch, and the excess fees are almost 2x less than prior insurer)
So all in all, private banking is worth it for my needs.

Assuming you're under 30 right ? I believe the R295 fee is discounted till you reach years old

Interestingly enough, looked at Standard Banks offering and I only get preferential rates until 30? WTF. Why would I stay on the higher packages then?

Investec is pricy though and my VAF and HL are already with Standard Bank. Need to enquire
