This forum is nearing 20 years of age. I think the average age at last count was between 35 and 40 years.

Given the above, what are your retirement plans? With this, and for the purposes of us who don't have the means to emigrate, and, frankly, don't want to....

Where, within the limits of our schithole borders, and at a stretch, one of our neighbouring countries would you want to die?

As for myself, its a toss-up between Nature's Valley and a smallholding in the NC...though I would really, really prefer some remote place in Botswana. Maybe in Zim since I will likely be too broke!

30 odd years to go.
I'll probably still be in SA and traveling to another country often.
Still working as well

The average retirement age in my industry 65+. I have a colleague that is 68 years old.

So my plans are if I don't win the lotto, I'll work until I can't anymore. I don't even play the lotto.

I'll probably end up in Cape Town as that's where my SO and kids want to be.

37 now (38 soon) and my retirement funds (pension and RA) have been worrying me, but I'm planning on upping it quite a bit next year when my car is paid off.

Hopefully I'll have a decent retirement pool and it will most likely be in Cape Town as I do not have the means or wants to leave the country.

Moving to the Midlands end of this month. Hope to get site there and build something and prospectively settle there.
If my wife gets better, look at visiting New Zealand, if not most probably the Midlands.

Maybe 50/50.

Either way, retiring is for pissies.

Currently I have about 115 days before I plan to retire at the end of this year, but also a possibility to hang on a bit longer till end of February next year. I turn 60 on the 24th of February. If I leave then I will have just over 39 years of service at the same company.

Wow. Thats a long time at a single company. Wow.

We've got another 27 years left, and periodically meet with our financial advisor (and adjust our strategy).

Unless something catastrophic happens, we will be able to hang up the gloves at 63 with a fairly decent quality of life.

Primary objective = not burden our kids when we go on retirement
