Well, I lost badly out on MNMD ... If I invested R10 000 last week, it would have been R2 700 000 today !

Mine as well, except my plan is to kick the buckey at 65. Since I have no savings at all.My current retirement plan is to kick the bucket before 55.
I'd suggest staying on until you've turned 60. If you retire earlier than that I don't think you can claim UIF.Currently I have about 115 days before I plan to retire at the end of this year, but also a possibility to hang on a bit longer till end of February next year. I turn 60 on the 24th of February. If I leave then I will have just over 39 years of service at the same company.

While I concede missing that, you assume everyone follows the norm. I had a colleague who died at his desk at age 72.He literally says he turns 60 in February in the post.

I'm not particularly looking forward to that, unless you get contracted to do his work...which I'm currently doing for no extra payIf I had to work with you...

This might be your last comment, go well..Pfff. I'm hoping I will die young doing something I love.
Retirement is considered to be termination of contract, not resigning, but you do need to be 60 plus. I retired early in July 2016 a couple of months after turning 60. I claimed UIF based on the maximum UIF-able salary of about R14800 (don't remember the exact amount), therefore the lowest percentage which I think was 38% and at that stage the payment was based on slightly under 8 months. My total payment was slightly over R43k. Since then I think that the payment period has been increased to a year. Seems I would not be able to claim UIF when I go on pension, that's considered to be resigning.
