The one concern though is that with hosting comes mail hosting, and with that comes endless problems with users c who don't understand Outlook etc. I'm afraid that tech support might take too much time during my day job. Any ideas?

Wanted to ask, what's the benefit of having a CC or PTY LTD compared to doing the same work without having a registered company license?

I want to dev and sell software.

A CC or PTY LTD has two main advantages in my mind.
1-Limited Liability - Assets of the company and the director as kept separate (in most cases, if not criminal). So if the business fails the directors personal assets like his home is safe.
2-You pay tax above the profit line and not below it. Meaning you can but an asset or pay an expense. Reduce your profit by that value and then pay company tax(28%), compared to Pay tax on the profit and then only pay the expense with after tax profits.

Disadvantage. Red tape and the requirements for an accounting officer to sign off your books. Which for a start up can be expensive.

This will obviously cost more, but it would enable you to scale your business to a higher level much more quickly because it would remove a **** load of work from you. Namely ordering the items(which might require a storage area) and delivering them, which you could only do in your immediate area.

Plus once you reach a certain scale, say the whole of Gauteng, you can approach the retails and request a distribution discount, by pass them and start your own sourcing department or sell the business to the company and consult.

You just have to make sure your content is **** hot.

A similar idea exists in New York - Blue Apron. I actually considered doing something like this at one stage
 
I have an idea that I have been paper doodling with over the past few days. Its a type of food cart concept. The thing is, I can't boil an egg let alone cook a 3 course meal for many, so finding the right people might be key. I have been saving up, and rough calcs on expected cash flow is that after buying basic equipment , I could cover the salaries of staff for 3 months on a zero profit stream (till i gain traction). The thing holding me back is 1. current day job requires me to work and 2. overthinking/analysis paralysis.

I kinda feel intimidated by the idea. I work a full day, do contracting in my spare time, and sometimes don't even get time to cook for my husband and me. It feels like a huge responsibility to think about other families' nutrition, dietary preferences and needs.

So I think I'm going to start doing burgers at markets and then a daily delivery of meals

I'd be interested to know how it works out for you, please keep us posted. I honestly believe that if you go into food as a side business, you need to understand food very well to begin with. I know someone who opened a pizzeria that ultimately failed, and he'll say it was because he doesn't cook himself. From what I recall, you're already a pretty good cook.

I thought of doing something similar but with donuts. From what I can see there isn't another donut seller in South Africa till Krispy Kreme or Dunkin hits. Even then there's space for a higher end artisanal type of donut, or a Tim Hortons style thing.
