Your temu orders

Got one of these, not terrible not great will do what I got it for.

Also one of these, bit slow but plenty good enough and fast enough for removing and replacing screws on smaller things (phones laptops watches etc). Very sexy packaging and the bits are also not bad.

They need some cotton in the blend, even on higher end brands I have found items with 100% polyester uncomfortable, it irritates my skin for some reason, no name polyester stuff is even worse.
They didn't feel bad at all, its stretchable and breathable but will only know once they wear them and see.

Has anyone bough a decent usable tablet - something with USB-C display output.

Trying to find a solution that'll allow me to offer remote support without dragging around a laptop.

I'm new to the Temu game, and I have some reservations.

After the 1930492384th ad and my coworker telling me about it, I decided to give it a whirl today.

Reservation 1: Asking me for my ID.
Reservation 2: Doesn't show the import tax I'll have to pay.
Reservation 3: Can't make an order for under R200 (wanted to get a new PC-compatible controller and phone case to try it out)
Reservation 4: Misleading advertising with the whole "free gift" thing (ends up only being free shipping)

My question is, what is the usual process when buying **** off Temu? Is it worth it? I've read stuff that Temu auto-charges your card unnecessarily, or the shipping company (Buffalo, I think) scams you.

They need your ID for SARS purposes, use a virtual card if you feel unsafe. They can't tell you your tax until it's with customs. But tech is generally 15%

With all the SA based data breaches your info is likely in the wild in any case but as said your ID number will be needed any time you need to get something through customs (same as Amazon).

Knowing the customs fees before shipping will be nice but I have not yet felt ripped off, or had any unauthorised charges on my card. (done 4 purchases over the past 18 months). Buffalo has been fine for me (if the courier is indicated as "speedaf" - avoid).

I don't use the app so do not really get pulled into the gamification to get me to buy.

Most important thing is to **read** the descriptions very carefully. If there are multiple options of the same item from the same seller - check that the item you select is still what you thought the original advert showed. If there are measurements shown, check that. Also, manage your expectations. You know you are buying lower cost items with the advantage of not paying someone else's markup. If you can't risk losing R200-R500, rather buy from the local cheap shop.

That was the plan before I freaked out over the ID.

I generally use my virtual card for everything I do. I made an extra one with a low limit to try with Temu.

Really? Odd.

So if I were to get R200 of stuff, then it would be R230 (incl customs and excl. shipping)?

Well you'd pay them the R200 and then the shipping company the R30 but that's tech, clothing is much much higher

Just remember that the "free shipping" does not include admin cost to submit the tax detail to SARS. You will pay the shipping company tax + a fixed handling fee. If you buy for only a few hundred Rand, the percentage tax is relatively higher - 30% or higher. I normally order for R1000 or more at a time - then the total tax is about 20%.

I have made 100 plus orders and have never had an issue. There were a few items that did not match my requirement. They gladly give a refund and sometimes let you keep the returned/unwanted item.

I got one of the cordless turbo fan tools and they are great, definitely not a toy and the one I got was very nicely made.
Nice for blowing stuff off where a full sized cordless blower is too much, they are also great for just blowing your face or down your shirt to cool down.

I paid R228 on some promo but the price has gone up, I always just search for the best price at order time.
I highly recommend this version, the extra tips are very handy:

Starring to believe that they just choose whatever they want to charge for customs. I ordered two items (a light and a clear tape). Order came to R200 something.

Customs is R100!

It's bananas how some shops price gouge, I suppose they rely on clueless people with too much money.
And on top of that their's is the cheaper version with no digital display and only one tip, fsks!

Yeah, but if you pay that insane price, at least you're supporting a local enterprise
