I would have expected to pay customs on the 31st for that order. But the whole system is Delayed. Almost like Bufallo's computer system broke down or they just can't handle the workload. How else does it explain it being broken in China too.

Thinking about it, that is how Temu's whole system is designed. Teazes you that you will get free stuff if you invite friends, give new users immediate vouchers and suddenly you have an unnatural spike in order demand at the moment it goes viral.

They can't handle the workload to get packages on planes in China, and one it gets in SA they can't handle deliveries. An f up of note.

yeah, I was gonna place another order, but am holding back now - 'natural balancing'
 
If you’ve ever been to some of the China malls around payday here in JHB, you’ll know that finding parking is near impossible. This is China Mall, but online. This mess is exactly as expected. My first order says “in delivery” today, whatever that means, at least.

I found a lot of stuff I could never find locally, a lot of stuff I could buy on Takealot for ten times the price, but also a lot of stuff I could just walk into Panda stores or Value Mart for and get cheaper. Overall, it’s great that I can finally buy the same items I see in my favourite YouTuber’s apartments, for cheap.

Come to think of it, about 75% of the things I had on my takealot wishlist I could buy in a single order. Not even the R150 vouchers made that possible. UV lights, resin periodic table, etc

What will happen to takealot now?

What will happen to the local China mall now?
 
Have a 19 item parcel incoming, for a few of us at work, still waiting on the customs bill (R1976 value, yikes)

Items are as random as hair extensions to solar powered cameras to tow ropes to plasters to motion sensor lights :ROFL:

How is the stuff delivered? I figured I can just get a new sim for an old phone and install TEMU on it and then it can have all the data it's little TEMU heart desires but I was wondering about stuff like import tax and how it is delivered?

Yeah my parents were all it’s just ten rand! But if you buy 200 items for R10 each… :ROFL:

I do comparisons between Temu and takealot before ordering, takealot still has a few good pricing, especially when it comes to solar lights and such.

They send you an email telling you what to pay for tax about 5 days after order, Buffalo then deliver it about 6 days after that.

Nothing will happen to TAL or local china shops. They will continue doing business and making profit. Temu is convenient way to spend money and get some items and feel good about saving money. If we are honest to ourselves, good chances are that we spent money on garbage items just because they look ridiculously appealing on temu.

Many people who started with temu spree will stop after couple of months with realization that some of the items ordered were not really what they intend to use more than once, if that. Of course, new suckers will join so cycle will continue.

My 4th order already and I think it is dawning on me slowly. :cool:

They also bait you with things like the price adjustment refund. Put some credit into your account so you spend again.
 
I took a shot and did my first order. Some irrigation equipment. Let's see how it works out and what the quality is when it arrives. It was a lot cheaper than what Builders, Buco and the lot asked.

Still no delays to CPT for me so far. All my orders arrived between 9-11 days. No transfers to other couriers yet or delayed messages.

The tracking is slow to update for sure. I checked this morning at 06:50 on the app and buffalo site it showed received in CPT on the 3rd. At 07:20 the driver was standing in front of my gate :ROFL:

Paid a total R514.72 duties for a R3910 to be exact. Wife, Aunt, Me made a combined order here total 69 items 5.7kgs :X3: all mixed stuff except clothing.

First Temu order disappeared into the ether after Tuesday when I got notice to pay taxes. No update since then. JHB depot so furk knows what the delay is.

2nd order just left China so will see how things go.

I’ve had better luck with Shein so far
