Your temu orders

Why would Temu be splitting my orders when shipping them?
I did 2 orders of around R700 each on one day, each order now has just one item shipped, a R275 item and the other a R20 item
Am I going to be reamed by customs now because the package value is below R500?

Turns out they took one item from each order and sent them, value R295 duties R88.

My latest order was placed in the evening of 13 January and was delivered Wednesday 22 January at 10h00 in Pretoria. Customs of R110 for a R559 order delivered by Buffalo.

Order R 137 duties R27 - 20% duties.
I thought I was going to be ripped a new one for this shipment being below R500 but it seems they are not applying the new below R500 rule and sticking with 20% which is pretty much what I have paid on most orders.
That was cleared by Allport Cargo services via Fastway.

When people mention the duties paid please also state the carrier/clearance agent so we can see if some charge more duties than others.

The new rule is for clothing. Was your order clothing, or just normal temu stuff?

Only applies to clothing

It is supposed to apply to all shipments under R500, it should be 20% + Vat, not that the 20% rule has ever been a hard and fast rule with orders from Temu no matter the value. The point being Temu et al were accused of splitting orders into parcels with a value below R500 to avoid paying vat, which I've never consistently experienced, their splitting of order shipments seems to be due to stock location or some other random reason.

Is it OK to order clothing and normal stuff in the same order or will it attract the higher clothing duty on the value of the entire order?

It's taking a chance, I wouldn't do it unless the clothes are the bulk of the order value

We ordered almost R1000 worth over December. R200 of that was a swimming costume for the wife. We paid about R150 tax via Fastway. No complaints here.

I haven't bought anything from Temu for a few months but made 2 purchases last week. The one order shows "Marine departure???Screenshot_20250122_202751_com.einnovation.temu_edit_257166657926383.jpg

What clothing do you get in temu that you can't get in SA for a reasonable price ? I ordered socks from temu once and they were terrible. Way better quality in PnP clothing

Or even Woolworths for marginally more, I saw just the other day they have nice quality plain Tshirts for R199 for two.

Yeah that happens sometimes. Brace yourself for a long wait!

Just kidding. I think it takes a barge to the airport or something.
That order was made a day or 2 before my other order. It is suppose to be delivered by Fastway but I still haven't even received notification to pay Customs fees.

The other order that I placed a day or 2 later and being delivered by Buffalo I have already paid customs 2 days ago and it was cleared by customs yesterday.

Just seems that it takes longer with Fastway. Will see what the Fastway customs fees are.

My previous Fastway order was 6 days, so I guess there's quite a bit of variation in their delivery times.
