YouTube doubles video file size

"the size limit for uploads to the site was being doubled, from one gigabyte to two gigabytes"

Higher than most monthly caps in SA :(

I noticed this yesterday... youtube videos also take much longer to load now, since most of them are in HD format. :(

So I can destroy my whole months cap by watching just one youtube video?

Haha... thats crazy.... hahaha....

:(

All we can do is lol @this....So

.......................LOL......................

Thank you Telkom :(

@JK8. Some of the videos offer you and HQ option and some HD. Depends on the quality of the video I think.

lol, i will use my 384 kb line with my 1 gig account to stream a 2 gig video, take me 6 hours to watch 5 min of video, and then i am capped.

whatever you do when watching those videos guys, just don't click REFRESH !

The actual streamed HD video is obviously not 2 gigs.

Original HD videos people have been uploading can easily be 1 gig for 10 mins of video, even compressed with DivX/XviD. Youtube then further compresses the video into an flv format if I'm not mistaken, which is better suited for web streaming.

Youtube recommends you upload the highest quality video possible within the space limitation as they retain the original and as more HD options become available your video will automatically be eligible. There is no "Upload a higher quality" option once your video is up.

With a 4mb ADSL line you can watch a HD video on youtube with a little buffering, 5mb/8mb would be sufficient for streaming without buffering.

I think something elses people have missed, is how piss poor our upload speeds are compared to international standards. With a 4mb line you get a 50kb/s upload speed. Try uploading 2gigs of HD video at 50kb/s with no resume support.

Rubbish not in this country, i have a 4 meg line and youtube does not stream on IS or SAIX. I click pause and wait for it too finish

guys, technical question:
why can't a video, which is only a couple of Mbps, not stream on a Telkom4Mb?

thanks
