Hey guys

Sorry to post this again but i cant find the original post. I really want to download the vids off youtube but i cant find a program that actually works.

Thnx in advance

www.orbitdownloader.com Works with IE, Opera, Firefox and also works as a download manager.

edit,

Hey how much is the DoBroadband - 2GB IS - 10GB Local in your sig costing you?

Um, 10gb local is R69pm and the 2gb db is around R250 i cant really remember.

Thnx for the link :)

To download vids off youtube I use the latest realplayer then a program called video convertor to change them from flv to practically any format you want

you could also add this as a bookmark in firefox:
Code:
javascript:document.location='http://keepvid.com/?url='+escape(window.location);

Whenever you want to download a vid, just open the bookmark

I just use Opera to stream the video then go look for the video in Operas cache. lol

Works fine here, you also get widgets for Opera which will download the vid for you :D

Yeah, I then use Total Video Converter to convert them from .flv if I want to.

I thougth I was the only one !! I use Firefox, and fish the files out the cache there :p

I just keep them in FLV format and use Wimpy FLV Player to play them later :)

NOTES
* To check which of the files in the cache is the one I'm looking for, I open the cache folder before I load the YouTube page. Then, arrange files "By Modified" and refresh every 5 seconds. Between refreshes, the file closest to the end that keeps changing size after refreshes is more than likely the one that you are looking for :)
* Wimpy is available for Mac and Windows

TheLoot, that sounds like a long mission, with orbit you just hover the mouse over the video then select download, that's it.

I still like orbit the most because it's also a general download manager so you don't end up with a separate application/plugin for all the things you want.

For playing a wide range of media I haven't seen anything come close to Media Player Classic (damn thing can even play .gif files), works very well with the K-Lite Codec Pack.

Check out www.free-codecs.com for things like that.

Sheesh pretty amazing to see how many people have completely different techniques for doing the same thing. Either way here's what I believe to be the simpliest, most efficient and generally well reviewed method.

1) Install the download helper extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006

2) Install the CCCP codec pack which gives you built in flv support in ALL your video playing software.

Please explain, look like im doing something wrong :(
