Youtube Problems on Cell C

Good Day,

We do monitor this threads. But it helps us greatly if you PM us as much information as possible so we can escalate to our technicians for their immediate attention.

Regards

I get this

but when I try to watch any youtube stuff, I get this

and that after CellC urgently requested my details on 5June, just to do nothing about it and not even contact me again after that.

So, CellC, please don't contact me again, I'm done with you, my data finishes at the end of June and I will be getting Vodacom as my backup for 8ta - cheers!

I'm also having the Youtube problem. Can't watch any Youtube videos on Cell C without it showing "An error occurred. Please try again later."

Which browser?

Do you have any YouTube downloader plugins installed?

Are you in the HTML5 trial? Does it make any difference if you enable/disable it?
http://www.youtube.com/html5

in my case FF and IE
When I connect with 8ta all works fine though

The latest version of Firefox. Also tried IE 10 now and the same happens there.

I do have Internet Download Manager installed.

I'm not part of the HTML 5 trial. Will try it out and see if it makes a difference.

Vodacom LTE works fine but unfortunately with them being so expensive I don't have that much Vodacom bandwidth so I'd prefer to watch Youtube videos using Cell C.

For the last couple of weeks I've had a problem when using Cell C internet where Youtube videos won't play correctly.

At least one other person has also posted about it in the Cell C Network Issues thread but so far there have been no reply and no fix. I'm hoping that it's own thread will warrant a reply.

What happens is that videos load up to a certain point and then I get the following error:
"An error occurred. Please try again later."

It only happens on Cell C. I tested on Vodacom and it works fine. I also tried IE, Firefox and Chrome and had the problem with all of them. I tried on a PC and on a laptop (Win 8 and Win 7), both with the same problem.

Once in a while a video will load but this is seldom.

Are there other people with this problem and if so please post here. Otherwise it may be isolated to a couple of people. Either way I would love to find a solution. :)

Wow, thanks for whoever added the posts from the other thread to this one. :) Ginggs, was that you? Thanks.

Hey guys..

Use this proxy.. http://www.zdfg.info/

Paste your youtube links in here at it will play perfectly. you can also download the video, very simple

On the site below your video, Video type: HTML5 (allows seek) Flash (for older browsers)... Select HTML5

Wait for video to load. you can now select the quality under Select Quality. Wait for video to load. Once it starts playing, right click on the video and select save video.. rename the file and its downloading.. sorted

Note.. this works on firefox

Cell c is blocking youtube Videos.. dont think the network can handle the amount of bandwith needed to support everyone

Wish I knew this before blowing 1.8k on a giga 200 package. Especially in light of primarily buying it for late night youtube prowling.

Care to provide your source of that information?

YouTube works fine for me on Cell-C.

I usually use my phone or tablet on WiFi for heavy data use, so if I wanted to watch a Youtube video it would use WiFi, but this weekend I was away and tried to watch a video and it kept failing on me on both my phone and tablet (Both Cell C) and I thought maybe it was a dodgy signal and eventually gave up and my friend managed quite easily on MTN to watch and download thwe video. Now reading this thread I am curious and will test some more in an area with a strong signal.
I moved phone from MTN and my data for my tablet from Vodacom to Cell C, and I am beginning to regret my decision, I am tired of dropped calls and long periods of data connection errors.

I have the same problem. Lets have a show of hands who else regrets their move to Cell C?

What do you mean "and download"? Are you using a video downloading plugin?

The guy used a laptop with a WiFi dongle on MTN. I simply tried to view the video on both the Youtube App and running through Chrome with the same result, it will start and then stop after a few seconds.
