YouTube, the popular online video service owned by Google Inc, is planning to offer a paid, ad-free version, the head of the site said

Yup. So this would essentially be another way to support content creators without having to endure ads. Something I'm keen on.

Bearing in mind that advertising revenue is Google's primary source of income, if Google haven't done that in the last decade, they won't do it in the next. Especially considering the whole preposterous "shooting themselves in the foot" aspect of interfering with the freedom of one of the most successful browsers out there.

I know Google blocks any app in the play store that offers to download from YT.

I hate those pop-up ads in videos. The video ads is fine except that it eats my cap. Adblock became the best add-on ever after that. MyBB is excluded of course.

I think it's put there by the uploader, you'll see on videos that are 30+ minutes long there's a a yellow(I think) bar in the middle of the video so even if you skip you still have to watch the ad.

I don't mind them keeping the ads either. And yes glad they keeping that version. Adblock to remove ads FTW!
