ZA and ZG

Each tank should be aware of how much damage they can endure from trash mobs. it's common sense and respectful to start a pug with reasonable cc. By the 2nd or 3rd trash group you will have an idea of high the dps and whether the healer can cope with less cc.

Its not only about the healer. If the dps is too low and unfocused then that is also a problem. 5 mobs at 10% hp still hit as hard as they do at 100%. Quickly killing one mob is sometimes more effecient than cc. Therefore the need to cc is sometimes determined more by the skill of dps, than the healer or tank.

I noticed that with tanks no using CC -> More pressure on the healer -> Higher chance of wiping

I am enjoying the difficulty of ZA and ZG, weeds out the slackers/noobs very quickly

Yup, same here. I like a challenge. WotLK was such a bore :p

I do agree with most of the points.
1 if people truly knew their class and abilities
2 stop looking at how many pew pew points they are behind Mr x on dps
3 play as a team eg help with stuns cc moving out of air ect
Then most lfg groups would be fun. I don't mind wipes, but repetitive lazy careless playing made me refuse to do lfg hc if not with the guild. Getting blamed for every wipe as healer has become an putoff.

When it comes to ZA, I've always (as a hunter) blamed the mages for not spellstealing the flame casters buff. Always wiped because of that. Every party member needs to pull their weight. Unfortunately it's human nature to find a scapegoat. The second someone blames my mate (healer) for a wipe when he's pushing 15k hps I quit

[Disclaimer] I've also run extremely successful groups with mages, but those are the ones who actually know their class

Sweet got my reforged axe from time ZA time run cos the tank did 17k DPS and his warrior friend did 16k
Pity we missed the mount by 5 min

It helps to know a bit about other classes as well.

Had a DK (I know, I know, should have expected it) that wanted me to sap the scouts in ZA and when I said I can't they can see me he had a little fit...Everyone else in the group agreed with me so we just had to go without CC as no one else could :p

you dont need to know about other classes to know you cant cc scouts, you can slow and stun them however which I dont see as cc.

(noob question) but why cc the scout? We usually cc everything but the scout and kill him first

i giggle every time a dps tries to cc a big mob after i keep telling them they cant be cc'd. Sure u can stun them but cc does not work :P

Those frost cauldrons work awesome against big mobs in ZG though :P

all i can say is healing is a bitch in ZA xD i was ooming on trash doing 20k hps with 362 ilvl holy priest(pve geared)... lots of pugs dont like to cc so guess ive jst gotta deal with it

You need a better tank then :p Avoidable damage is avoidable, only way they'll learn is to die from their mistakes

My healer rerolled disc when he started the ZA/ZG instances, now he's comfortable doing it in holy averaging 15k hps with 60-70% mana after each trash pull

You can't avoid all damage. Anyways nowadays healers in ZA/ZG doesn't seem able to cope, my alt did it fine in the past, nowadays I get blamed for bad gear, yet I am ilvl 354 geared in tanked items. Decided its too much work and just don't queue for that crap anymore. Will maybe consider it again in 4.2 when everyone get the new 359 gear.

Brings me back to that, well wow is kinda annoying atm. Bring on Diablo 3, but also I think 'Hunted: The Demon's Forge' can maybe take some of my time soon.

Its funny I keep seeing people going on about how they had to do 15k + hps to keep groups alive. Sure it happens but mostly if a agro horny dps pulls agro i don't try and heal him. If he dies he knows to hold back a bit. Then its smooth sailing.

Mostly average around like 10-12k hps depending on what fight ofc. Its not so hard. People at least get the tactics now. Only Jindo can be a pain if people fail to kill ghosts and avoid crashes

Unnecessarily pulling aggro off the tank classifies as avoidable damage imo, I average 17k dps in ZA...as omen starts warning me I switch target and continue nuking... something most dps tend to ignore until they're dead

On my rogue I stay out of the earthquakes, stunlock the flame casters, pop cloak of shadows when fighting Venoxis etc - the typical survival strategies combined with common sense.

My biggest gripe with pugs/groups in general is that no-one understands situational awareness any more, best tool I ever learnt from PVP :p

Yip and yip, if the healer is having to sustain more than 12-14k hps on a trash pull the tank is doing something wrong with gearing/positioning/not using cooldowns/holding aggro. The amani bears/bear mounts are the only mobs that cause headaches for the healer in ZA, nothing a simple Tranq shot doesn't fix :p

druids can use their talent called "soothe" too. bet you didnt know that :p though it does take ferals out of form
