Zidane.

Power, control, elegance, composure. The complete footballer.
 
My favourite footballer was Rhoo, but the one who impressed me most was Zidane. Sheer class. With honourable mentions for Van Basten and Bergkamp.
 
Pele and Maradona have always been mentioned as the greatest footballers of all time. Zidane needs to be included in this group. He was definitely the complete footballer.
 
For me it has to be Ronaldinho. Never seen any player with such mad dribbling skills. Made watching football very entertaining.

Before my time I'm afraid, so I can't really call him my favourite footballer since I never saw him play. Zidane I could watch.

Yea, I agree with you there. He has got amazing control and great dribbling skills but I still don't think he is as "complete" as someone like Zidane?

We all have our favourites, and someone like Steven Gerrard is right up there on my list.
 
For me its four footballers that deserve to classed as the greatest footballers of all time.
Pele, Maradona, Zidane and Ronaldo (The brazilian Ronaldo and not the fairy from Portugal)
 
Zidane was pure class. He often made the impossible look so simple.
As a young kid I had a YOU magazine poster of Roberto Baggio on my wall and the caption at the bottom was "Poetry in motion". He was a class player.
Dennis Bergkamp - another player who could make the impossible look routine.
 
I think it would be much better to select a favourite player per position, i.e. FW, MF, DF and GK to make up a complete team.

Here is my list of the 11 players I would have in my starting eleven (only players I got to watch in action)
Forwards - Diego Maradona, Ronaldo (Brazilian)
Attacking Mid fielders - Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho
Defensive Mid fielders - Michael Essien, Sergio Busquets
Central Defenders - Alessandro Nesta, Marcel Desailly
Full Backs - Cafu, Lilian Thuram
Goal Keeper - Oliver Kahn

Messi Gerrard Makhele Figo
Zidane
Ronaldo ( brazilian)
 
Favorite all time player is zanetti. Another is maldini. I liked both not just for their ability as football players but both were true gentle men.

If we are talking just about skill my favorite players were fatnaldo,robby bagio,zizou and toti.

Favorite central defenders have always been sandro nesta and walter samuel.
